Cra pulled herself together and kept her tone pleasant. “Yes, I’ve finally seen the truth. I’m sure you’ve watched everything that unfolded out on Planet A13. This mess will be extremely tricky to sort out.”

The other party let out an unconcerned scoff. “It’s trouble for you, not for me. Wait for my update.”

He hung up right away, without spelling out what favors he expected from Ciara in return.

Ciara stared down at the red comm-device in her palm, vicious hatred flickering across her eyes.

Layla, what have you really accomplished even if you took Stella down? You will never break me.

Ciara huffed softly at the thought, sank back into her chair, and turned toward Xavier. “Open a bottle of red wine for me. I need a moment to collect myself.”

Seeing Ciara’s composed demeanor, Xavier’s anxiety eased. He hurried off and opened an expensive bottle of wine.

Back on Planet A13, the atmosphere was calm.

Scarlett gave sharp, direct orders for show security to detain Stella.

She contacted the nearest Galactic Guard unit to take her into custody.

Stella thrashed and fought against being dragged away. “I need to call my mother. You have no right to take

me.”

Several onlookers who had long grown sick of Stella’s schemes let out mocking huffs.

One of them said, “Save it. After everything you’ve done, the Grant family can barely save themselves. Your so-called mother won’t waste energy bailing you out.”

He added, “Go ahead and try calling her. See if she picks up.”

Layla shook her head, watching Stella’s defiant outburst. “Very well. Let her learn the hard way that no help is coming.”

She stepped over to the guards holding Stella. “She has the right to have her family arrange legal representation. Let her make the call to her mother.”

Since Layla had spoken, the guards glanced toward Oliver behind her.

Oliver nodded, and they loosened their grip on Stella.

Stella immediately pulled out a comm-unit she had hidden on her person this whole time.

The live-chat feed blew up at the sight.

[She still had a comm-device on her? I knew she wasn’t cooperating.]

[What were Fiona and Michael even doing? How did they miss that?]

ona stood off to the side, her face draining pale as she read the live chat and spotted the device in Stella’s had.

She truly had no idea Stella had smuggled it. She was definitely going to get harshly reprimanded now.

Fiona sighed inwardly, resentment burning in her gaze toward Stella.

If not for Stella and the Grant family, she would still hold full control over this show, and Scarlett would never have stepped into the picture.

Stella dialed Ciara’s number over and over. Normally, Ciara picked up within three rings, get three separate calls went straight to voicemail.

She refused to believe Ciara would abandon her.

Stella redialed repeatedly until a guard clamped a hand over her wrist. “Let’s go. We will attempt to contact your family for you.”

Stella screamed and tried to bolt. Layla reacted instantly, grabbing a nearby object and swinging it hard against the back of Stella’s head.

It landed perfectly.

Stella crumpled and blacked out, this time genuinely unconscious.

Layla brushed dust off her hands amid the onlookers’ admiring stares, speaking evenly. “Take her away. She likely knows enough to lead us to more secrets.”

Stella and Ciara had plotted together for years. Stella must hold plenty of damaging knowledge about Ciara.

If Ciara wanted to preserve the Grant Group after all this, she would sacrifice Stella to save herself and pin every crime onto her adopted daughter.

Layla looked forward to watching the two so-called “mother and daughter” tear each other apart.

A cold, malicious smile tugged at Layla’s lips.

She had never been some gentle-hearted saint.

Ever since she arrived in this world, Ciara and Stella had thrown endless obstacles in her path.

Taking them down now was letting them off lightly.

Still, Stella was only one piece of the puzzle. Ciara remained the real threat.

Ciara would undoubtedly resort to dirtier tactics to get back at her, and Layla was curious exactly what lengths Ciara would go to.

No fear or uncertainty clouded Layla’s eyes about future danger. Only excitement for the coming challenges shone there.

She drew a deep breath and walked up to Scarlett. “Thank you for preserving all the evidence. That is what
