Chapter 451 Don’t Touch Him!
s pressed a hand to his chest, gasping for breath. “Tin fine. Don’t worry about me.”
ง
Sympathy fhh kered across Layla’s eyes as she looked at him. “Get down to the basement and stay with Wolf Boss. He can keep you safe”
Clara watched the exchange and let out a cold laugh. “What touching loyalty. Too bad neither of you is walking out of here alive today.”
She pulled the trigger again. A laser beam shot straight toward the two of them.
Layla shoved Yates aside without hesitation and dodged sideways herself.
As the energy cannon detonated, she used the blinding flash for cover, drew her bow, and planted anyarrow deep into Ciara’s shoulder.
Caught completely off-guard, Ciara screamed. Her laser cannon clattered to the ground, and blood soaked through her shirt instantly.
She stared wide-eyed at Layla, disbelief thick in her voice. “How can you fight this well?”
Ciara had always thought Layla had been raised in some remote backwater, unfit for combat, lacking even basic fighting skills.
She had seen Layla’s performances on Vanguard, but only now, fighting her firsthand, did Ciara realize just how deadly Layla was.
Ciara watched Layla push herself back to her feet and was ready to strike again.
Layla gave her no opening. She stepped forward and drove her boot hard into Ciara’s wounded shoulder.
Ciara let out a shrill cry. The sound carried through the floorboards and echoed down into the basement.
Down below, Carson and Darren were locked in combat.
Plagued by his old injury, Carson’s strength faded fast. His wound split open once more. Blood soaked his clothes and dripped off his forearm, leaving a trail across the stone floor.
His movements grew sluggish, and he panted heavily.
Every block against Darren’s attacks cost him enormous effort.
Darren seized his chance and drove his long sword straight through Carson’s arm-the exact same spot as his earlier injury. Sharp steel tore through flesh, and blood gushed out.
Darren slammed Carson hard against the wall. He pulled a dagger and pressed it to Carson’s neck, careful not to slice the artery.
Rage sharpened his tone. “Where is the energy field? Talk, or I end you right now.”
Carson gritted his teeth. Sweat beaded across his forehead, and pain blurred his vision, yet he refused to speak. “I don’t know. Even if I did, I would never tell you.”

Chapter 451 Don’t Touch Him!
Murderous fire flashed in Darren’s eyes. His voice turned cold, twisted by old bitterness. “You were the one
-spotted my talent and recommended me for the Royal Guard. Why didn’t you speak up for me back thay”
Carson met his bloodshot gaze, his lips parting.
The truth was, the moment trouble fell on Darren all those years ago, Carson had gone straight to the royal family. He had even put every single one of his holdings up as surety, swearing Darren was innocent.
But the royal family would not listen. They had been set on hunting Darren down.
Carson knew there was no point saying all of that now.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a shadow shifting in the corner.
Carson coughed softly and faced Darren, his tone heavy. “I did speak for you back then-”
His words ignited Darren’s fury. “You lie! If you had really pleaded my case to the royal family, they would never have insisted on destroying me!”
While Darren raged, Shane burst out from the shadows. He held a syringe filled with bright-red serum.
He drove it toward Darren’s back while Darren’s full attention stayed fixed on Carson.
Darren sensed the movement behind him and twisted out of the way. He struck Shane hard across the chest with his palm.
Shane crashed onto the ground. The syringe skittered away. Sharp pain exploded in his chest, and he could barely draw breath.
Darren snorted, killing intent plain on his face. He spun his sword and advanced on Shane. “Sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong? Fine. I’ll send you to your grave first.”
Panic surged through Carson.
He knew Shane’s death would shatter Layla.
The second Darren turned away, Carson snatched up his axe and swung it hard at Darren’s back. “Don’t touch him!”
Darren never expected the badly-wounded Carson still had strength left to attack. He failed to dodge fully, and the axe bit deep into his shoulder.
Blood poured out, staining his whole body.
Darren roared and threw himself back into battle with Carson.
His eyes blazed red, and faint beast-shifting marks spread across his face. The Berserker Serum he had injected before the fight was taking hold.
Seeing them locked in brutal combat, Shane quietly retrieved the syringe, refilled it with the red compound, and gave Carson a quick look.
