Chapter 457 Do You Have Any Other Clues?

Garson stepped over to Edgar. His gaze turned cold as he dropped his eyes toward the prisoner. “You framed Darren for treason all those years ago, and you got so many people within the royal family killed. This is exactly what you deserve.”

Edgar let out a bitter laugh and stared back at Carson, full of open contempt. “You think you have won The royal family’s plan is already in motion. Even without me, they will pull it off. Full-scale war will sweep across every star system, and none of you will escape it.”

A heavy sense of dread settled over Layla upon hearing those words.

Events were still unfolding along the lines of the original story. However, the source material had never gone into this much detail about the royal family.

The royal family had spent ages setting everything up. They would never scrap their whole scheme just. because Edgar had been captured. They had to stop this, or the consequences would be catastrophic.

The Galactic Guard arrived faster than they had on any prior occasion. They quickly secured Edgar and the rest of the group.

As guards prepared to lead Darren away, Carson spoke up. “Hold on. Can I have a word with Darren?”

The lead Galactic Guard hesitated for a moment. He then nodded and stepped aside to let Carson move closer to Darren.

Carson asked, “You were framed by the royal family back then. Why would you side with them again?”

Darren gave a faint, pained smile and shook his head slowly while looking at Carson.

He said, “You will never understand what it is like for someone like me. I do not have your noble blood or your gifts. Once I was cast out of the Royal Guard, I could barely keep myself alive. My Lady Lord and my daughter died in the third year after I was falsely accused…”

His tone sharpened with rising emotion. “Do you have any idea what I have endured these past years? I wanted every last one of you dead.”

Carson took one step backward. He had so many things he wanted to say, yet in the end he only let out a soft sigh. “Take him away. He has to answer for the choices he made.”

Right before Edgar was marched onto the starship, he locked eyes with Carson for a long moment. His expression held layers that no one could easily read.

Carson chose not to dwell on that strange look.

They watched the guard vessel lift and vanish. Layla and the others turned their backs on the northern wastelands and headed toward the cabins.

No one spoke much along the way. Each of them carried their own set of fears.

The royal family held overwhelming power. If their plot succeeded, disaster would crash over the whole galaxy.

They had only managed to take Edgar, Ciara, and Darren into custody. Stopping the royal family’s larger plan felt nearly impossible.

Back at the cabins, everyone sank exhausted against the tables.

Layla was firm with him and insisted he go to the production crew’s medical unit for IV treatment and

proper rest.

Carson tried to argue back, but Layla shot him a sharp warning glare. “If you refuse, you can sleep outside tonight.”

Defeated, Carson gave in. He quietly followed the medical staff away.

Layla massaged her throbbing temples. She saw how worn-out everyone else looked and spoke in a low. tired voice. “All right. Get some rest first. We will deal with what comes later.”

They had fought non-stop for two full days. Their bodies could not keep pushing without proper sleep.

Everyone nodded silently. Since Carson had gone with the medics, each person could have their own room

to recover.

Layla slept straight through until the next morning. Scarlett came rushing over with brand-new updates.

Seeing how grave Scarlett appeared, Layla already suspected something had gone wrong with Ciara.

Scarlett let out a weary sigh and confirmed her guess. “After the Galactic Guard brought Ciara and the others to the Interstellar Tribunal, they ran tests. Their official claim is that the group had been mind-controlled.”

Layla’s eyes went wide with shock. “Can they actually get away with saying something that ridiculous?”

Scarlett gave a hollow smile. “The royal family wields so much influence. Even the Interstellar Tribunal will bend to them to some degree.”

She drew another long breath. “What are we supposed to do now?”

Layla rubbed her aching temples. “Have they already released Ciara and the others?”
