Chapter 459 This Is a Romance Show
da smiled back at Liam.
Compared to his sharp-tongued, bitter attitude when they first met, Liam had changed for the better.
Layla said, “I’m fine, don’t worry. Your wounds haven’t fully healed, so don’t go rushing around If they tear open again, I’m not going to look after you.”
As she spoke, her gaze drifted over to Carson’s handsome face, and worry flickered across her features.
Carson noticed the deep concern in Layla’s eyes. He stood and stepped toward her, his tone soft. “I’m alright. The pain from my injury has mostly faded. Hanging around the medical unit was so boring, so came over to see if there was anything I could do to help.”
He paused, and a faint, barely noticeable flush rose on his cheeks. “And I was worried about you, too.”
Those words sent a small flutter through Layla’s chest. She pressed her lips together and wore a faint smile.
George pushed forward, full of curiosity. “Layla, what were you talking about with Ms. Moore and Emily? Was it about the Grant family and the royal family? What are we going to do next?”
Layla reached out and ruffled his soft-textured hair with a grin. “Nothing huge. We’ve decided to put the royal family and Ciara’s issues on hold for now and keep the romance show going. Everyone has been pushed too hard lately. I’m cooking a nice midday meal to treat all of you.”
George’s eyes lit up the instant he heard that. Pure excitement showed on his face. “Really? That’s amazing. Layla. I’ve been craving your cooking. I still think about that last meal you made.”
Oliver also smiled. He set aside the Starcore Essence shard in his hand, his gaze gentle. “We love anything you cook. Do you need us to lend a hand?”
Layla nodded happily. “I absolutely do.
“Liam, head into the nearby woods and hunt some game. Pick meat that tastes good, and gather fresh wild vegetables while you’re out.
“George, go down to the river. Bring back clean water and catch some fish.
“Oliver, collect dry kindling and keep an eye on our surroundings.

“Carson, you and Shane stay at the cabin and build us some new cookware.”
A lot of their original kitchen gear had gotten destroyed during their stand-off with Ciara’s group.
Luckily, Shane had escaped serious harm and still had enough strength to help craft new equipment.
Shane flashed a smile and exchanged a quick look with Carson. All five men answered in unison, “Got it.”
Liam immediately turned and headed for the woods.
He moved with incredible agility. Anyone watching might mistake his beast form for a jaguar.

George trotted lightly toward the river, humming a little tune to himself.
ver picked up the kindling basket from the corner and went out to scout the surrounding area.
Carson obeyed without complaint and stayed behind to work on cookware alongside Shane.
Layla watched them go with a bright, warm feeling inside her chest.
She clapped her hands and walked into the cabin to tidy up the kitchen first.
Layla rummaged through the kitchen storage cabinets. Plenty of supplies remained. Along with their stockpiled grain and vegetables, there was also dried cured meat.
They had more than enough ingredients for a satisfying lunch for everyone.
She was halfway through cleaning the kitchen when Shane stepped inside.
Layla poked her head out, curious. “Are you and Carson already finished?”
Shane gave a shake of his head. “Carson said he can handle that work on his own. He sent me in to see if you need any help in here.”
Layla glanced around the room and clapped her hands once.
She smiled, “As a matter of fact, I do. Our spatula is broken, the cutting board has split right down the middle, and our table and chairs got wrecked, too. I’m going to need you to fix all of those.”
Shane thumped his chest confidently. “No problem at all.”
He pulled out his tools and the stock of lumber he had collected earlier. “I’ll get started right away. I’ll patch up whatever kitchen stuff we can salvage, and I’ll build brand-new pieces once we have more free time.”
“Thanks for doing this.” Layla stepped up close to Shane and pressed a quick kiss against his cheek.
Shane’s face turned bright red. The live-feed camera caught the whole moment, and the live chat exploded.
[It’s been so long since we’ve seen sweet moments between Layla and Shane. This is adorable.]
