Fluffy Mates Chase Their Boss on Survival Show
Chapter 461 Gathered Around Her Cabin
Sne’s face burred red.
He quickly turned away-fumbling over his words as he spoke, “I’ll go build new dining tables, furniture.” and other things. You go ahead and cook, Layla.”
Layla watched Shane’s hurried retreating back. She slowly licked the corner of her mouth.
A cold, reserved, handsome man like him really was far more charming once he became flustered.
Layla spun back around. She dropped the marinated hare meat into the pot and stirred it over a high flame Before long, a rich aroma drifted through the air.
When the hare was nearly cooked, she poured in the pre-made sauce. The scent deepened at once, carrying a strange, fresh-spiced undertone.
Standing nearby, George swallowed hard. “Layla, what are you making? It smells amazing.”
Layla kept her eyes fixed on the heat while sprinkling several kinds of chili peppers into the pot. She spoke in a relaxed, easy tone, “This is herb-roasted hare. I bet none of you have ever tasted anything like it.”
Planet A13 shared many of the same living conditions as Earth. She had found these chili peppers completely by accident.
She wanted to make herb-roasted hare-a surprise for these beastkin who had survived almost entirely on nutrient solution for so long.
The heavy, savory smell soon filled the entire wooden cabin and drifted out into the yard.
George shifted excitedly on his feet. “Is it ready yet, Layla? I want to try some.”
Layla laughed when she saw his hungry, eager expression.
Livestream comments popped up, all filled with amusement.
[George is so adorable. He reminds me of my pet kitten.)
[Yeah, he looks exactly like one.]
[If I were Layla, I would hand him a bite right away. No one could resist that look in his eyes.]
[Still, all these ingredients Layla is using look really odd. Is this even safe to eat?]
[Layla knows far more than you do. Every meal she makes blows us away.]
[Ugh, we have such advanced technology these days-why isn’t there a communication device that can send smells? Someone needs to invent one fast.)
Layla used a fork to lift out one well-seasoned piece of hare meat and held it out for George.
He bit down at once. Rich, thick. sauce flooded his mouth first, and then the slow burn of chili spread across his tongue.

Finished
George’s eyes turned red, yet bright excitement still shone in them. “This is unbelievably good!”
Herlanced back toward the pot, clearly hoping for another serving.
Layla chuckled and tapped his hand, “Hey, everyone else is waiting for food. Stop hovering over the pot and go get some plates washed.”
George pouted, then hurried off to do exactly what she had asked.
Oliver stepped over to her side. He watched Layla’s skilled, practiced movements, and warm affection swelled deep inside him.
A thought crossed his mind-Layla should have been raised as a spoiled young heiress of the Grant family
Back when he had stayed with Stella, he found she could not cook at all. She had even said, “My mother always told me my hands were never meant for low-level chores.”
Sadness washed over Oliver as he remembered those words.
Layla caught a shadow out of the corner of her eye. She assumed George had come back.
She turned her head and saw Oliver instead.
He was staring at her with a strange, unreadable look.
She smiled in confusion, “What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?”
Oliver snapped out of his thoughts and gave a soft cough. “Nothing. I was just thinking how hard your past must have been to make you such a good cook.”
Layla grinned, her focus still on her cooking. She answered without stopping to think, “Life out here is tough. If I did not cook for myself, there would be nothing to eat.”
She clamped her mouth shut right after the words left her lips. Her answer had come from her past-life
memories.
Layla glanced nervously toward Oliver. He mistook her story for a sign she had suffered harsh treatment, and his sympathy for her grew even stronger.
He took one step closer and spoke in a gentle, caring voice, “You will never have to go through that hardship again. All of us are going to look after you.”
Layla settled her feelings. A small wave of gratitude rose inside her, and she gave a quiet nod. “I know.”
Layla stirred the hare meat for a little longer, then placed her pre-floured fish into the hot oil.
