Fluffy Males Chase Their Boss on Survival Show
Chapter 469 Her Worst Suspicion
Over stuck a forkful of stir-fried food into his mouth and spoke, “I remember he has pieces of Starcore Essence. Shane has merged with Starcore Essence before-it should give him some extra energy to keep going.”
Once breakfast was over, everyone headed out to gather fertilizer just like Layla had asked them to earlier.
Layla stayed behind alone. She waited inside the cabin, her mind filled with worry.
Finally, Shane pulled his door open. No trace of tiredness showed on his face, only pure excitement.
He spotted Layla waiting by the doorway and let out a happy shout. “Great news, Layla! I finished both the vaccine and the antidote. We need to get this medicine over to Jacob right away.”
Layla’s eyes lit up. She set one hand firmly on Shane’s shoulder. “You stay home and rest. I will take care of this.”
Shane refused to back down. “I want to go check on him myself.”
Layla spoke to him in a much firmer tone, “Your only job today is to rest inside this house. If you push this, will leave you out of all these missions from now on.”
Shane let out a short huff after hearing her words.
He understood Layla was only looking out for his well-being, so he nodded and agreed to stay.
Layla grabbed the two prepared injections Shane had worked so hard to make, then set off toward Emily’s camp.
Emily and Rowan stood watch outside the tent. Their faces brightened the second they saw Layla walking over, and they hurried to meet her.
“How did it go, Layla?” Emily asked, her voice full of hope.
Layla pulled the two vials of medicine Shane had created out of her pocket. “Shane succeeded. Give this to Jacob right now.”
Gratitude washed over Emily. She skipped over formal pleasantries, rushed into the tent, and got Jacob ready for his shot.
A short time later, Layla heard Emily’s joyful voice ring out from inside. “You are going to be alright!”
Layla breathed a huge sigh of relief. She locked eyes with Rowan, who stood beside her.
“Thank you both so much for your help,” Rowan said quietly.
Layla shook her head gently. “This affects the whole camp, and we are good friends. Helping you is the right thing to do.”
Rowan glanced toward the tent and lowered his voice. “I found a strange-acting rabbit near the old fishing spot a while back. You should go check that area out.”

Layla froze for a second in shock, then nodded. “Alright, I will look into it.”
Then she slipped away quietly while Emily stayed inside caring for Jacob.
She planned to head over to the fishing grounds herself.
Soon, she reached the spot where she and Rowan had caught snakehead fish for the very first time. Something felt wrong the moment she arrived.
The water had once been crystal-clear. Now it had turned thick and murky.
This cloudiness was not caused by extra bacteria floating on the surface. It looked as though something rotten had sunk and decayed inside the river.
Layla stepped closer. A hard-to-describe foul smell drifted to her nose.
It reminded her of the stench coming from the infected black bear.
A sudden, sharp thought crossed Layla’s mind.
Back during the apocalypse, every infected creature, human or animal, gave off that exact rotten odor. Their bodies broke down from the inside out.
Her heart began pounding wildly in her chest.
This virus can’t possibly be like the zombie virus, can it?
Layla shook her head firmly.
She had not yet reached the end of the original story timeline.
No zombie virus had ever appeared in the book. She was just letting her fear get the better of her.
Layla took a deep breath. She picked up a long tree branch from the riverbank and stirred the water.
There was a hard snap. Something had gotten caught on the end of her stick.
She lifted it slowly out of the water and saw a dead fish hooked onto the wood.
Its flesh had clearly been rotting for quite some time.
Shock ran through her. The fish’s gills still twitched, and its eyes had turned cloudy and milky. The scene looked just like the terrifying apocalypse she had lived in before being transported here.
Layla held her breath. She glanced upward automatically. The Vanguard circled high above her.
The online viewers had seen everything that just happened, and shock and fear spread through their live
