Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 50

Chapter 50 No Trouble for Layla

Layla grew paler the more she listened. “Wait, hold on-let’s set the bird droppings aside for now. Back to Starcore Ore.”

Her Vanguard buzzed again.

She rejected the incoming call, muted the device, and covered it with a bag. “Continue,” she said.

Shane saw no issue with this. He nodded and went on, “During animal migrations, their droppings carry plant seeds across distances. Given the right conditions, those seeds take root and grow.

“The same logic applies to Starcore Ore. If bird droppings contain Starcore Ore particles, that means…”

Layla’s eyes lit up, finishing his thought. “The land where their food grows must hold Starcore Ore deposits. Or they’re consuming the ore directly.”

“Exactly. Planet A13 does have untapped Starcore Ore reserves.”

Her eyes glowed even brighter.

I’m going to be rich. Truly rich.

I have to make it all the way. Planet A13 is mine.

Shane had no clue what she was thinking, but the sight of her bright, excited expression stirred something warm within him.

An idea clicked, and Layla’s gaze darted around. “Prof. Slater, I have something to discuss with you.”

“Go on.”

She never got the chance to speak.

This time, it was Shane’s Vanguard ringing.

He had been about to decline, but recalled the higher-ups’ instructions-the production team was meant to accommodate his schedule. He answered the call.

“Prof. Slater, have you finished your discussion?” Michael asked, hurried yet careful to stay polite per Fiona’s orders, especially around Shane.

“Not yet,” Shane replied.

Michael paled. “How much longer will it be?”

Bound by Fiona’s strict orders, he could only plead quietly, “Prof. Slater, I understand you have important matters to attend to. But this is a live reality show. Your sudden Vanguard feed cut has sparked massive online backlash. Our official account is being flooded with angry fans.”

“Shortly,” Shane said.

“Alright, alright, that’s a relief!” Michael smiled obsequiously. “Please wrap up soon. I won’t bother you

further.”

Shane hummed noncommittally. Then, recalling Layla’s earlier irritation, he added, “Leave her alone. No trouble for Layla.”

Michael froze for a moment.

He’s already protecting her? The shippers were right after all?

Giving Shane special treatment on stream was already risky enough. Extending that favor to Layla would have the fanbase tearing the show apart.

Michael hesitated, seemingly consulting someone off-screen.

After a beat, he conceded to the demand with one condition. “Prof. Slater, could you ask Layla to stop rejecting our incoming calls?”

To be honest, speaking with Shane was stressful enough. Layla was difficult to deal with too, but Shane was a renowned professor. Everyone who had ever attended school felt a twinge of intimidation toward teachers.

Especially someone as stern as Shane. One didn’t even need to meet him in person-merely hearing his voice was enough to make anyone nervous.

Shane glanced at Layla, silently seeking her approval.

She gave a small nod.

“She agrees,” he said, and ended the call. He turned back to her. “You were saying? What did you wish to discuss?”

“I plan to trade salt for other supplies. Or have them help us search for Starcore Ore. What do you think?”

Shane finally remembered. At the show’s start, every male contestant had only been allocated enough salt to last roughly half a month. Yet the program ran for three full months.

All remaining salt provisions were entirely up to the contestants to secure.

The production team did offer ingredient-exchange tasks, salt included.

Most male contestants here were predatory species, so hunting came easily to them. However, trading meat for salt was extremely inefficient.

One hundred pounds of game only earned a small salt packet-enough for a single person for around ten days.
