Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 54

Chapter 54 Your Precious Stella

With the yard gate open, Liam could see Shane eating the salted cracklings with unexpected poise. Sprinkled with salt, they emitted a rich, savory aroma.

“How do you still have salt?” he asked as he stepped inside.

He hadn’t been watching Layla’s feed recently, so he had no idea she and Shane had begun producing their

own.

Per the show’s original rules, each male was only allocated enough salt to last roughly half a month. After that, contestants were on their own.

There were two of them, so Shane’s original ration should have only sustained them for a week. By all logic, they should have run out long ago. Even with extreme frugality, none should remain—and the amount Shane was eating was anything but frugal.

“Did you trade salt with the production crew?” Liam asked.

Layla had no intention of answering at first, but then she remembered he was her major source of income. “We make our own salt,” she said.

Liam stared at her.

Do you really think I’m that gullible?

“It’s true,” Layla said, nodding toward Shane.

Shane walked into the stone shelter and returned with a pouch. He opened it, revealing fine, pure white salt.

Liam’s eyes widened. “Are you certain you didn’t just steal some from production?”

Layla looked genuinely appalled. “General Hartwell, is that truly what you think of Prof. Slater?”

Liam chuckled bitterly, shaking his head.

[Maybe he meant you.]

[Layla ain’t got no dang sense a’tall?]

[Your accent is so thick.]

[I don’t got no dang accent a’tall.]

[So I’m the one who has an accent? Interesting.]

“He was referring to you,” Shane said. He stored the salt pouch away and retreated back into the shelter.

“General Hartwell, how has your food been lately?” Layla smiled, picked up the crackling plate, and held it out to him. “Care for a taste?”

Liam and his group had long since run out of salt, and were surviving on strict rations.

Chapter 54 Your Precious Stella

Within his team. Liam and Carson were skilled hunters. Oliver, however, was a prince raised in luxury completely unused to harsh wilderness living.

Carson was an excellent hunter, yet he had an enormous appetite-he was a wolf beastkin, after all. He could provide plenty of meat, but stockpiling a hundred pounds to trade for salt would be grueling work.

In the original novel, it took both Liam and Carson hunting nonstop just to feed their household.

Now, though, Liam brought nearly all his game to Layla to store. He did bring half the jerky back to hi group, and had also persuaded Carson to stock up on supplies for the coming winter.

The show lasted three months, and only half a month had passed. Winter would arrive in just over twenty days. Once snow fell, game would become far scarcer.

They had four mouths to feed. They needed to gather nearly two months’ worth of food in barely twenty days. Carson and Liam could not afford to slack off at all.

Under such pressure, trading a hundred pounds of meat for a tiny packet of salt from production was unrealistic. Liam had gone days without a properly seasoned meal.

Liam took a crackling. The salty, crispy burst of flavor hit his tongue, and his eyes lit up at once.

This is what a beastkin is meant to eat!

The piece was tiny, barely enough to whet his appetite. He reached for another, but Layla pulled the plate

away.

Liam paused, then caught on immediately. “Alright, what’s your deal?”

Layla retrieved a slender bamboo tube and filled it completely with fine salt. “Production demands a hundred pounds of meat for one small salt packet. I’ll give you this entire tube for just eighty pounds of

meat.”

“It’s not that much more. It’ll only last around fifteen days.”

“Still a far better bargain than production’s offer, isn’t it?” Layla raised an eyebrow. “Think about it. Beastkin grow feeble without salt. No strength means no ability to hunt. Game will grow scarce in winter. Weakened hunters will catch even less. When your group can no longer sustain themselves, your precious Stella will have no choice but to withdraw from the show.”

Liam frowned. He had to admit she made a valid point.

Yet for some reason, hearing her phrase it as “your Stella” bothered him greatly.

She was placing him firmly on Stella’s side.

Stella’s pure, gentle face flashed in his mind. He shook his head to dispel the odd feeling.
