Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78 A Snake in the Cave

“Let me help you back.” Layla reached out and took Shane’s arm.

Her hands were soft, but her fingers were slender and defined.

Shane could feel the shape of her fingers around his arm, the warmth of her touch.

“Where did you fall?” There was real worry in Layla’s voice.

“I was looking for…” Shane trailed off. “I followed the traces, and I accidentally fell into a hole.”

Layla understood. He’d been searching for Starcore Ore. The extraction device he’d been working on hadn succeeded yet, so today he’d gone back to follow the bird droppings again.

“And bird food lives in a hole?”

“Not usually.” Shane shook his head with a rueful smile. “I didn’t see the hole there. Just fell right in

“How deep was this hole to mess you up like that?”

“About… this deep.” He gestured a height that was absurdly vague.

Given his expertise, he should have given her a number in feet, not “this deep.” Layla couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re cracking jokes at a time like this? Guess it doesn’t hurt that much.”

“It hurts.” Shane said.

Layla snorted, “Be more careful next time.”

Their initial supplies included some basic medicine.

Technically, she could also call the show’s medical team if someone got hurt-but that would mean forfeiting the competition.

Shane hadn’t achieved what he came here to do. There was no way he’d give up that easily.

“Layla.” Shane’s voice broke the silence.

Layla didn’t even look up as she yanked down his pants. “Yeah?”

“Did it have to come to this?” He looked down at his bare leg, a wave of strange embarrassment washing

over him.

It wasn’t like he was completely naked. But standing like this in front of the girl he liked? It felt terribly improper.

That’s what Shane was thinking. Layla, meanwhile, acted like nothing out of the ordinary was happening. “How else am I supposed to bandage it?”

In the apocalypse, one had to learn a little bit of everything. Layla gave him a quick onceover. “Nothing s

broken.”

“Nothing’s broken, but my dignity is in shambles,” Shane said.

It took Layla a moment to remember Vanguard, diligently doing its job. “Still watching?”

[What’s the harm in watching? Don’t be so stingy!]

[Prof. Slater’s got some serious muscle definition. Those legs… Oh.]

But Vanguard was hightech enough to recognize that maybe this wasn’t suitable broadcast material. It turned away.

[Hey! Hey! Don’t treat us like outsiders!]

[Layla, since you’re not interested anyway, what’s the harm in letting us have a look?]

Only after Layla shooed Vanguard away did Shane realize-they were still streaming.

What he’d meant by “my dignity is in shambles” was that he looked pathetic in front of Layla. This was too humiliating.

“You took a pretty hard fall.”

The worst injury was the scraped skin on his left knee. He might have bruised the bone, but nothing was broken. “You’re going to be sore for a few days. Try not to move around too much.”

It probably wouldn’t take more than a few days, actually. Males healed fast. An injury like this would be good as new in two days, tops.

But Layla was not a native. She had no way of knowing. Her mindset still clung to ordinary human logic.

“You don’t need to treat these little scrapes.” Seeing Layla about to apply medicine to his tiny scratches, Shane raised a hand to stop her.

Males possessed sturdy constitutions and rarely fell ill. All non-fatal wounds healed on their own, given enough time. That was why the show provided no medical supplies for the male contestants at all.

So Layla only had this one bottle of medicine. If she used it all on him, she’d have nothing left if something happened to her later.

“Are you sure?”

[Of

course he’s sure. Prof. Slater, I’ve got your number. Can you quit playing the victim?]

[That knee injury does look pretty bad, though. That’ll take at least two days to heal, right?]

[Not even. Prof. Slater’s beast form is a King Cobra. You have no idea how tough those things are. And he’s a cross between a King Cobra and a Belcher’s sea snake too. Regular King Cobras aren’t venomous-but he is. Scary stuff.]

“I’m sure.” Shane’s smile was faint, but the message was clear. “I heal fast.”

Layla thought it over. She wasn’t the one refusing to treat him. That wasn’t on her.
