Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 80

Chapter 80 Species Advantage

“Wow… you males really are terrifying,” Layla gasped.

As soon as she brought the finished soup to Shane, she noticed the scrapes on his hand had already scabbed over. Recalling his fast healing, she couldn’t help but gasp.

Healed that fast. His regeneration really was something else. No wonder he said he didn’t need the medicine.

“And you females are adorable.” Shane hadn’t expected Layla to genuinely not know how fast males could

heal.

“Is it just you, or does this apply to all males?”

“Depends on the species,” Shane said. “The tougher the species, the faster they heal.”

Yates came back with Liam following behind him.

The moment Shane saw them, the easy look on his face vanished. “Take someone like Yates. If he got hurt like this, he’d be laid up for at least a week and a half.”

Yates glanced at Shane’s injuries, nodded solemnly, then shook his head. “If I fell from that high up, I’d just be dead.”

Liam chimed in, “If it were me, I’d need some time to recover too.”

Not that Liam was any less capable than Shane. A male who’d made it to an imperial general was obviously no slouch. He was a deer beastkin-great leaping ability. But falling from that kind of height? His legs would be toast.

Snakes were different. They didn’t have legs.

If Shane shifted back to beast form the moment he fell, he could distribute the impact across his whole body. Plus, he had scales. Of course, his injuries would be much lighter.

That was a species advantage. Nobody else could compete.

Hearing this, Shane lifted his chin slightly, then picked up the soup Layla had brought him.

Layla nodded thoughtfully. Seeing how proud he looked, she figured this must be a King Cobra thing.

“Well, that’s pretty impressive.” She gave him a thumbsup, then turned to Liam. “What are you doing here?”

The past couple of days, Yates had been delivering jerky and bringing back whatever fresh meat Liam had caught. Liam hadn’t been coming to their yard.

Liam had a bag of meat in his hand. He tossed it onto the table.

“He told me to come myself, didn’t he?”

Layla thought Liam’s brain worked in strange ways.

Chapter 80 Species Advantage

When Shane said, “Tell him to come get it himself,” didn’t he mean tomorrow?

Yates had already gone over today. Why did Liam have to come all the way here now? Just to stretch his legs? To show off that he still had four good ones?

“Where’d you fall? Looks bad.” Liam sat down next to Shane.

By now, Shane had put his pants back on. He looked every bit the aloof intellectual again-sitting primly at the table eating his soup, like some refined young gentleman.

He set down the bowl. It was supposed to be soup, but it was basically just meat paste with a little liquid

Shane didn’t like vegetables. He was hurt, so Layla had actually taken pity on him for once.

Plus, they didn’t exactly have a surplus of carbs in the house right now. This would have to do.

Shane walked into the stone cave. Liam followed him in.

Layla didn’t pay them any mind. She jumped back up the tree and continued building.

So she didn’t see Shane give Vanguard a cold stare. “Turn around.”

Vanguard wobbled uncertainly.

Back at the production camp, the crew received Shane’s request. They looked at each other.

Then they reported it to Fiona.

Fiona saw that both Shane and Liam were in the cave and immediately nodded. “From now on, just do whatever Prof. Slater asks. You don’t need to check with me.”

The last thing anyone wanted was to get in the way of Shane’s real business.

Vanguard turned away.

Inside the cave, Shane pulled out the map he’d been drawing and pointed south. “Here. I followed the trail of bird droppings as far as I could. There was a crack in the ground. I didn’t see it and fell in.”

“You’ve made it this far?” Liam pulled out his own map from inside his jacket. It began at Stella’s cabin and stretched north. “I’ve got nothing on my end. Probably not in this direction. And it’s dangerous as hell over there-all kinds of predators. Almost bought it a few times.”

“Switch directions.” Shane studied the map, his expression grim. “It’s just the two of us for now. No reinforcements coming anytime soon. Don’t waste time on lowprobability areas.”

“Fine.” Liam nodded. “I’ll head west from now on. Are you still going south?”
