The overpowering stench of alcohol mixed with shattered glass created a chaotic mess.
Sienna glanced down at her soaked pants, but before she could utter a single word, a soft, sickeningly sweet voice drifted from behind.
"What on earth happened here?"
Sienna's brow furrowed.
She didn't even need to turn around to know who it was. The voice was etched into her nightmares.
Celeste rolled over in her wheelchair.
She was dressed in an elegant, flowing dress, her features innocent and delicate, exuding absolute vulnerability.
But the moment her eyes swept over the shattered bottles scattered across the pavement, her expression turned icy.
She stared at Sienna, silently casting her as the undeniable villain of the scene.
Sienna let out a cold laugh inwardly, preparing to state clearly that she had nothing to do with it, but Millie beat her to the punch.
"Sienna, how could you do something like this?"
Millie pointed a trembling finger directly at her, her voice shrill and dripping with venom. "I know you despise Celeste, but she bought this wine specifically for Eleanor! You didn't have to deliberately shove the cart over!"
Sienna's gaze shifted from the jagged glass on the ground directly to Millie's face.
The maid was putting on an Oscar-worthy performance—eyes wide, lips quivering, looking exactly like a traumatized witness to a horrific crime.
The two younger maids standing behind her quickly caught on, adopting expressions of sheer horror as they cowered behind Millie.
Looking at their faces, Sienna actually found the whole situation hilarious.
Like master, like dog.
This incredible talent for flipping the script and playing the victim matched Eleanor's delusional tendencies perfectly.
The corner of Sienna's mouth twitched into a smirk.
Ignoring Millie for a moment, she locked eyes with Celeste.
Millie had bragged while they were loading the crates that Celeste had specifically won a few of those bottles at an auction in France; a single bottle cost more than they made in a year.
Now the wine was completely destroyed, shards of glass swimming in expensive liquid across the stones.
Apologies wouldn't cut it. Even if all three of them sold their organs, they couldn't cover a fraction of the cost.
Seeing Celeste's darkened expression, they didn't dare breathe a word of the truth. They nodded frantically, jumping on the bandwagon.
"That's right! Sienna heard us talking and came over just to attack us!"
"Sienna, don't think you can do whatever you want just because you married into this family! There are no cameras out here, so don't even try framing us! This wine was worth millions of dollars. Just because you can't afford to pay for it doesn't mean you get to blame us!"
The three of them fed off each other's hysteria, managing to squeeze out a few crocodile tears as they turned to Celeste, pleading pathetically.
"Celeste, you have to believe us! We swear we aren't lying!"
Sienna watched the trio's masterful performance and instantly understood the play.
Ah, wine worth millions. No wonder they were so desperate to pin the blame on her.
