"Now that the divorce is finalized, you still had to stab her in the back. You knew exactly how much Owen means to her, yet you forced her to shoulder all that blame and humiliation.
Jarred, you are an ungrateful bastard. Every single member of the Sterling family is completely devoid of humanity!"
Jarred frowned, his defensive instincts flaring instantly. "Who said she didn't get a dime?
It was written clearly in the divorce agreement. Every property and bank account under my personal name was given to..."
Though he appeared reckless and cynical, he had never intended to shortchange Sienna.
After seven years together, even if the marriage was over, he would never let her leave destitute.
But before he could finish, Jonathan scoffed. His voice dripped with absolute disgust as he spat out a single word: "Hypocrite."
Without sparing Jarred another glance, Jonathan turned on his heel and stormed off down the corridor.
Jarred stood frozen in place, his jaw still throbbing from the punch.
But the chaos in his mind was infinitely worse.
He had signed the paperwork. He had ensured she was heavily compensated. Where exactly did things go wrong?
He had never doubted his reality quite like this before.
He always assumed Sienna was fiercely independent, stubborn, and perhaps a little emotionally distant. He thought their separation was merely the natural end of a faded romance.
But Jonathan's words completely shattered his arrogant assumptions.
On the private jet back to the Capital.
Jarred was entirely wide awake, the oppressive tension rolling off him making the cabin feel like a freezer.
The more he analyzed the situation, the more inherently flawed it seemed. Before the plane even took off, he pulled out his phone and dialed Declan Ward.
"Immediately investigate everything surrounding Sienna before she moved out of Solstice Hill. Her whereabouts, her financial records, who she interacted with, and specifically, who from the Manor met with her privately.
Jonathan looked at his former student. Her face was gaunt, her eyes heavily bloodshot. A flash of profound pity crossed his features.
He spoke softly. "Maloney's secretary contacted me. That's how I found out things had gotten this bad."
Hearing this, Sienna lowered her head in deep shame.
She hated burdening others, especially knowing her mentor had flown halfway across the world just to clean up her mess.
Jonathan saw right through her guilt. He reached out and gently patted her shoulder.
"I just spoke with Owen's attending physician. I handed over your complete medical history. You are fully capable, legally and mentally, of retaining guardianship. You don't have to worry about that anymore."
But in the next second, Jonathan's tone turned frigid. "I suppose Jarred did one decent thing today. He submitted a formal statement to the hospital, transferring full guardianship back to you.
I also heard he contacted several top-tier international specialists to fly in for a joint consultation on Owen's case."
Sienna was stunned. "When did this happen?"
