His features were so exquisite they almost felt aggressive, yet his expression remained coldly detached, as if nothing in the world was worthy of his attention.
The most striking thing about him was his eyes. The irises were incredibly light, and when he looked at someone, it felt like staring through a layer of frost.
Even when he was looking right at you, you got the distinct impression you didn't matter at all.
The man took the seat opposite them with unhurried grace, exuding an innate, aristocratic elegance.
His fingers were long, the nails neatly trimmed, far too pristine for someone who got their hands dirty in business.
Once seated, he drew a perfectly folded white pocket square from his suit jacket, gently wiped his fingertips, and returned it to his pocket.
Sienna caught the movement and felt a stir of recognition.
She had seen that exact habit in someone else: Maloney Sterling.
Except Maloney used dark pocket squares, whereas this man's was pure, spotless white.
This was the man who had been arguing with Maloney on the balcony!
"Ms. Sloan," the secretary intervened. "This is our boss, Silas Draken."
Silas Draken.
Sienna had heard the name. He was the elusive owner of the Capital's most secretive underground exchange.
Word had it he handled countless priceless antiques and jewels, yet his background was so deep no one could dig up a thing about him.
She had assumed he would be a middle-aged man; she certainly hadn't expected someone this young, let alone this striking.
Silas leaned back in his chair, his light hazel eyes sweeping lazily over Sienna. "I hear you're looking to sell a necklace, Ms. Sloan. And the condition is that anyone can buy it, except Helena Sterling."
His voice was smooth but possessed a ruthless edge that made the back of one's neck prickle.
Sienna's expression remained neutral as she nodded. "That's correct."
So that was why Helena wanted the necklace so badly. Even better.
Sienna set her teacup down and met his gaze. "So, are you saying you won't accept the item, Mr. Draken? Fine, I'll find someone else."
Silas didn't answer right away.
He scrutinized the woman sitting across from him, his eyes gliding slowly over her calm face, as if appraising an artifact he couldn't quite identify.
Sienna was dressed simply—a white silk blouse, dark trousers, her hair casually gathered at the nape of her neck. She wore no extraneous accessories, not even earrings.
Yet, this unadorned simplicity only highlighted her stunning bone structure.
She carried herself with an unwavering, quiet confidence that was impossible to ignore.
While he was analyzing her, Sienna was doing exactly the same to him.
