"Bet on what?" Jarred asked, his eyes shifting slightly.
"Let's bet... that the entire world, except you, knows you're in love with Celeste."
Sienna's voice was incredibly soft, landing like a feather against Jarred's chest, yet carrying a weight that made his breathing stall for a second.
"If I lose, you can do whatever you want with me. But if I win, outside of the day we sign the divorce papers, I want you out of my life forever."
Jarred's brow locked into a severe knot—not out of guilt.
It was the final condition. He hated that she was using this to sever all ties and push him away permanently.
He paused briefly before answering in a low voice, "You're on."
Having gotten the answer she wanted, Sienna turned and patted Luna's shoulder, her tone suddenly lightening. "Luna, head home first."
Luna grabbed her hand, her eyes swimming with worry.
"What are you doing? Jarred is manipulative and calculating. He's an old fox. Don't let your guard down and get yourself trapped."
"I know what I'm doing." Sienna was calm, her inner core rock-solid, completely unbothered.
Despite her immense anxiety, Luna had no choice but to leave, looking back nervously over her shoulder to give them space.
In the expansive night, only Sienna and Jarred stood facing each other.
"How do we do this?" Jarred broke the silence.
Sienna looked up, a calculated coolness flashing in her eyes. "Since Celeste is awake, your boys are definitely hovering around her at the hospital.
Since everyone is gathered, let's go test it out.
They spend all their time with you. They know your likes and dislikes better than anyone, and they certainly wouldn't misjudge your feelings."
Jarred saw the unwavering confidence in her eyes, and an amused glint surfaced in his own.
Seeing that she had absolutely no intention of going inside with him, Jarred withdrew his gaze, pushed open the door, and walked in.
The moment the door opened, the lively chatter in the room came to a screeching halt.
A second later, Gideon was the first to react, marching quickly toward him.
He grabbed Jarred's arm, immediately launching into a tirade.
"You finally decided to show up! We told you not to go, but you insisted on bailing out that woman! You left Celeste here waiting for you all this time."
Gideon continued his rant as he pulled him inside. "Celeste was merciful enough to drop the assault charges. Sienna should be groveling on her knees right now, thanking her for her kindness!"
Whenever it came to Sienna, Gideon was relentlessly vicious, lacking even a shred of decency.
Hearing this, Jarred instinctively frowned, his defensive nature kicking in. "My wife is not up for discussion, nor does she need to apologize to anyone."
The room froze. Gideon stared at him in utter shock, his expression twisting weirdly. "Are you serious, Jarred? What's with the sudden change of heart?
