Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 231

Sienna's composed figure appeared before them.

Her expression was perfectly calm, devoid of any dishevelment or grievance.

She cast a mild glance around the room at the varying expressions of the people inside, a mocking smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

"Isn't silence the best answer at a time like this?"

Her gaze swept lightly over the agitated Gideon, her demeanor distant. "Why must you be so aggressively demanding, Gideon?"

The room fell dead silent. You could hear a pin drop.

Everyone was caught completely off guard. They never expected Sienna to be here.

And judging by her words just now, she seemed to know exactly what had been going on in the room.

In the bed, Celeste wore a blue-and-white striped hospital gown.

Her long hair was draped over her shoulders, her face pale to the point of translucence, with unshed tears still glistening in her eyes.

But the moment she saw Sienna, a fleeting trace of panic darted through those beautiful eyes.

Sienna took it all in, yet her face remained entirely unreadable.

Jarred was the first to recover.

He stood by the bed, looking at Sienna.

The icy shell on his face shattered almost instantly.

Without a word, he walked straight over and gripped Sienna's waist with one hand, his grip carrying an undeniable dominance.

His body heat seeped through the thin fabric of her clothes, his palm searing hot.

Before Sienna could even open her mouth, she heard him lean in close to her ear.

"That was not my answer," he murmured, his voice so low that only Sienna could hear it.

"I heard everything outside just now. I heard that Celeste asked you to drop the charges." She paused, her eyes shifting to the two men in front of her.

"Luna and I beat her up this badly, yet she's merciful enough to forgive us. No matter how thick-skinned I am, I'd be too embarrassed not to show some appreciation, wouldn't I?"

She delivered these words with a breezy lightness.

But the layer of ice in her eyes made everyone's scalp tingle.

Lucas scoffed, looking at Sienna with naked mockery.

"Did your little game of playing hard to get blow up in your face? Now you want to win Jarred back by sucking up to Celeste? Sienna, nice try, but it's useless. Stop dreaming."

Gideon furrowed his brows. "Celeste doesn't need your 'appreciation.' Hurry up and leave, or I'll throw you out myself!"

As he spoke, he reached out to grab Sienna.

But before he could even brush her sleeve, a hand reached out from behind and firmly seized his wrist.
