Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 233

He carried a vintage medical case, radiating an aura of profound, almost ethereal expertise.

Following closely behind was Celeste's attending physician, his face alight with pleasant surprise, looking at the older man with near-religious reverence.

The ward was quiet for a few seconds.

Gideon sucked in a sharp breath. "Is that... Dr. Alistair Vance? Dr. Vance?"

He was an absolute titan in the field of orthopedics and holistic medicine in the country; his case studies made up half the modern medical history in his discipline.

He had retired twenty years ago, and since then, had almost never practiced medicine in person.

You could count on one hand the number of people who could persuade him to take a look at a patient.

And now, this living legend had been brought to this hospital room by Sienna.

Everyone's gaze shifted toward Sienna, their expressions entirely changed.

Jarred stood at the back of the group, his dark eyes locked onto Sienna.

Back when he found out that Celeste might never walk again...

The very first thing he did was pull every string he had to locate Dr. Vance.

He had searched for months, making countless phone calls and utilizing the entirety of The Sterling family's extensive network.

And all he got in return was a single sentence: Dr. Vance had retired and was no longer taking patients.

He thought the matter was completely closed.

But Sienna had pulled it off.

He watched as Sienna held onto Dr. Vance's arm.

The easy familiarity between them made it obvious this wasn't some last-minute arrangement; they looked like old family friends.

She tilted her head slightly to speak to the doctor, her expression natural and affectionate.

The sight made Jarred's eyes darken.

In all the time he had been with Sienna, he never knew she was acquainted with Dr. Vance.

She lowered her eyelashes, her voice dropping even softer. "I don't want to get my hopes up time and time again, only to be disappointed in the end. Dr. Vance, please go back."

Gideon's heart immediately ached for her. He crouched down to meet her gaze, his tone as gentle as if he were coaxing a child.

"Celeste, don't say that. Dr. Vance is already here, what's the harm in letting him take a look? There might be a turning point. Don't give up."

Lucas chimed in, "Yeah, if Dr. Vance steps in, it'll definitely be different. Just let him check; he might be able to cure you."

The others chimed in with agreement, and even the attending physician urged her not to give up.

But Celeste kept her head down, refusing to say another word, simply shaking her head repeatedly.

Her long hair shielded her face, hiding her expression.

Watching the scene unfold, a slow smile curved Sienna's lips.

"Celeste, is there some unspeakable secret making you afraid to let Dr. Vance examine your legs?"

The moment she said that, the temperature in the room plummeted to freezing.
