Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 247

The heavy weight pressing on her chest finally lifted.

Sienna's heart was full of gratitude, allowing her to completely relax and throw herself into the project meeting.

Halfway through the meeting, Sienna suddenly remembered something.

She had left some critical preliminary research files for the initiative back at the Solstice Hill mansion.

When she moved out, she assumed she wouldn't need them and left them behind.

Those files contained analytical reports on several key case studies that were absolutely vital for her upcoming trials.

She had to go back and get them.

Sienna instinctively frowned.

She never wanted to set foot in that place again, nor did she want any further entanglement with Jarred.

But given the circumstances, she had no other choice.

She resolved to grab the documents and leave immediately, without lingering for a single second.

As soon as the meeting ended, Sienna took a cab straight to Solstice Hill.

When she originally vacated the mansion, she had left her keys inside.

However, her facial recognition was still logged into the main security system.

The moment she stepped up to the door, it automatically clicked open.

Sienna walked into the house. The familiar layout greeted her, but it only made her feel suffocated.

Mrs. Bridges's eyes lit up with surprise as she hurried over. "Madam, you're back! Jarred is currently in..."

"I'm just here to grab some things. I'm leaving right after, there's no need to announce me," Sienna cut her off coldly.

Seeing her icy expression, Mrs. Bridges sighed internally, too intimidated to push the issue.

But on second thought, she quietly slipped upstairs, intending to discreetly inform Jarred of her arrival.

Meanwhile, in the second-floor study.

The tension was stretched to the absolute breaking point.

Jarred sat behind his desk, his dark, probing eyes locked onto the man sitting across from him.

I vetted the official guest registry, and came up with absolutely nothing. The only remaining variable is you."

He paused, his stare turning lethal. "The family didn't throw a massive gala that night.

Aside from the relatives, Grandpa simply told you to personally invite a few close associates from your inner circle.

So, you should definitely know who this is, shouldn't you?"

Maloney kept his eyes downcast, his fingertips idly brushing the edge of the folder.

When he finally looked up, he wore the same placid, gentle expression as always.

"It's been so many years. I don't remember exactly who I invited, and the figure in this screenshot is too blurry. I can't recognize him."

Jarred's eyes darkened violently, his sharp gaze locking onto Maloney.

His older brother was notoriously meticulous and possessed a photographic memory; there was zero chance he 'didn't remember.'

That microscopic stiffening of his eyes and the slight hesitation in his fingertips from a moment ago had entirely exposed his deliberate cover-up.

Jarred scoffed coldly. "You expect me to believe that?"
