“…Sienna.”
“Don't call me that!” Sienna snapped hysterically. “Jarred! I never want to hear you say that name again!”
Jarred watched her flushed cheeks, his chest tightening.
He didn't understand why she was suddenly reacting so fiercely.
In the past, whenever he called her that, he could tell she liked it.
It even made their intimate moments infinitely more pleasurable.
He wanted to step forward and hold her, but he feared a sudden touch would only make her more resistant.
“I don't know how to love properly, and I've hurt you over the years. Can you just give me a chance to make amends? Back then, we were both set up. I will keep investigating, and I will definitely give you the truth. Just give me time. Let me make it up to you.”
Jarred's gaze was complex and restrained. He lowered his voice, sounding as if he were soothing a wounded animal.
“…I never wanted to hurt you on purpose.”
He spoke with absolute sincerity, but Sienna was entirely unmoved.
Over the years, the pain he had inflicted cut far too deep.
Every time she thought things would get better, she was met with an even deeper wave of despair.
His betrayals had already carved indelible scars into her heart.
She would never trust him again, let alone turn back.
Sienna ignored him. Gripping the test report tightly, she shifted her gaze away from Jarred and looked toward Maloney, who had been silent all along.
Maloney stood there, his usual gentle expression completely flawless.
His eyes swept across Sienna's face before calmly shifting away, as if he were deliberately avoiding something.
Sienna narrowed her eyes. “Maloney, the investigation file says the person who drugged me was your business partner. Do you know who it is?”
Jarred had never given her an ounce of security.
Only Maloney would gently comfort her when she was wronged or help her out of a tight spot at family banquets.
He was the only person she thought she could rely on in this cold, wealthy family.
But now, that final illusion was completely shattered.
Sienna looked up, her eyes devoid of tears, leaving only a bone-chilling coldness.
“I thought you were the only one in this family who would help me, Maloney. I never expected you to be just like them.”
Maloney looked at the ice in her eyes, and his heart violently clenched.
He opened his mouth to speak but ultimately said nothing.
Sienna placed the documents on the table, withdrew her gaze, and wore an expression of unprecedented icy detachment.
