Meeting that icy stare, Celeste actually shivered.
"The week before last, right before I left, his nurse took his blood pressure. He was perfectly stable and in great spirits," Sienna said, her voice freezing.
"But less than ten minutes after I walked out, you used the excuse of bringing him supplements to slip into his study alone. You locked the door and stayed in there for almost half an hour.
By the time you finally came out, Grandpa looked absolutely livid, and the nurse caught his blood pressure spiking into the danger zone immediately.
That night, he couldn't sleep a wink and kept complaining of severe chest pain. Are you really going to stand there and deny it?"
A dead silence fell over the room.
Absolute shock washed over everyone's faces.
Celeste trembled, her eyes immediately welling up with tears as she fired back with righteous indignation.
"You're just making things up! I've never spent more than ten minutes in his room. Even when I brought him food, I dropped it off and left. How... how could you slander me like this?"
Sienna watched her panicked meltdown with a barely perceptible smirk.
"Did you really think bribing the nurse to hide it from Dr. Clayton would make the whole thing disappear?"
Celeste's pupils contracted violently.
Sienna chuckled softly. "You forgot something. Grandpa has kept a daily rehab journal for years. Every spike in his vitals and every emotional shift is documented in perfect detail."
If Sienna hadn't accidentally glanced at that journal last week and noticed the bizarre blood pressure readings.
Celeste had been extremely careful.
Even after quietly digging around, Sienna initially couldn't find anything out of place.
It was only by piecing together subtle discrepancies in the timelines from the maids and the nurse that she had finally figured it out.
Celeste shook her head, tears streaming down her face, instantly weaponizing her delicate fragility to win back the room's sympathy.
"Ms. Sloan, I know you're incredible at twisting words. The matriarch, Helena, and I have all suffered because of your silver tongue.
She couldn't stomach looking at her anymore. Turning to face the crowd, her voice rang out clear.
"Talk is cheap. I have witnesses and physical evidence. Bring the bodyguards, the nurse, and all the maids out here right now.
We'll go through every detail, line by line, right in front of you all."
She looked at a nearby maid, raising her voice. "What are you standing there for? Go get them!"
Utterly terrified by her commanding aura, the maid mumbled an agreement and spun around to run fetch them.
Suddenly, Helena let out a bloodcurdling scream. "Celeste!"
Sienna whipped her head around, only to see Celeste.
She had suddenly slumped back in her wheelchair, her eyes squeezed shut.
She looked completely lifeless, like a ragdoll with its strings cut!
