Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 274

Jarred stepped in front of Sienna, his towering frame shielding her completely.

His predatory gaze swept over everyone present, his voice deadly quiet. "Grandpa is currently unconscious in a hospital bed. Those shares were his explicit decision.

Even if the worst happens, he has a will. Since when do any of you have the right to stand here and scream at her?"

Helena stomped her foot in exasperation. "You've lost your damn mind, Jarred! Hasn't she screwed you over enough? I'm your mother!"

He looked at her, his expression unyielding. "I stand on the side of reason, not blood."

Helena nearly choked on her next breath, clutching her chest as she stumbled backward.

Celeste hurried forward to prop her up.

Sienna stood quietly behind Jarred, watching the pathetic circus unfold. Honestly, she was just exhausted and thoroughly bored.

She had seen enough of these hypocrites, and she was utterly sick of Celeste's melodramatic acting.

Taking a deep breath, she reached out and gently tapped Jarred's shoulder, signaling him to move.

He stiffened, turning slightly to look at her.

Sienna stepped around him, taking her place dead center in the living room.

"Elders, I'll spare you the nonsense. Hear me out, and I'm sure you can judge the truth for yourselves."

Before the echoes of her voice faded, her sharp gaze was already nailed onto Celeste.

"Just a minute ago, in front of everyone, you swore I was the one who tampered with Grandpa and caused his collapse?"

Meeting her stare, Celeste threw on her best wrongfully accused look, keeping her tone completely ambiguous. "I only stated the facts as I know them."

The evasive bullshit made Sienna scoff out loud, her eyes dripping with sarcasm.

"Fine. Then let me share the facts as I know them."

Sienna relaxed her posture. "I visit Grandpa once a week. I never stay longer than forty minutes.

The entire visit takes place in the open living room. We talk about his garden and the past. I haven't taken a single step into his bedroom or his study.
