Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 317

Some words had been buried in his heart for so long, he thought he'd never get the chance to say them.

"You don't need to thank me," Maloney said, his voice laced with a deep, quiet apology.

"If anything, I'm the one... who owes you an apology. Sienna, I am so sorry."

Sienna froze for a second.

She opened her mouth to speak, but her phone suddenly buzzed in her bag.

The screen lit up, displaying Luna Lennox's name.

Sienna gestured for Maloney to hold on and answered the call. Luna's excited voice instantly flooded her ear.

"Sienna! I've got a massive lead on those dump trucks you asked me to track. I just got word that we've locked down the vehicles. You need to get to the site right now!"

Sienna frowned, asking her, "Aren't you on the night shift tonight? Why are you still digging into this right now?"

"My shift doesn't stop me from chasing a lead."

"Where did this intel come from? Is it reliable?" Sienna pressed instinctively.

Luna sounded slightly offended. "What? You don't trust me?"

Sienna sighed softly. It wasn't that she doubted Luna's abilities.

But she had dispatched an army of men to investigate, and even Jarred's people hadn't picked up a whisper.

Yet Luna magically landed a flawless lead in the middle of the night, which inevitably sparked a nagging sense of dread in her chest.

Luna immediately lowered her voice, sounding much more serious. "The intel came from Sergeant Miller's informant. The source is rock solid. Absolutely reliable.

Don't waste time, get moving. If you're late and they destroy the evidence, we'll never find the truth."

Sienna weighed her options.
