Luna let out a frustrated sigh. "That manipulative bitch has some serious backing. At this rate, who knows how long it'll take for her to slip up!"
Thea added, "Our only real shot right now is for the old man to wake up."
"Easier said than done. It's been forever with zero progress. Not to be pessimistic, but it's a miracle if he ever opens his eyes again."
Sienna pressed her lips together, staying silent for a moment before replying, "No news is good news right now.
I've been applying some new acupuncture techniques based on my grandmother's journals, and his muscle nerves are actually showing signs of activity."
The two of them stared at her in shock. "Really?"
Sienna nodded. "Any free time I get, I've been running tests in the lab."
"Why don't you just relocate your lab to the city? It's not like you're hurting for cash, and Azure Ridge is so damn far," Luna suggested.
Sienna smiled softly. "That cabin is the secret base my grandmother left me. I'm never moving it."
Just as they were talking, the heavy crunch of hurried footsteps echoed nearby.
The group turned to see Jarred marching out of the precinct, an icy aura practically radiating off him.
He was heading straight for Sienna.
Thea leaned in and whispered, "He followed you out the second you left. He was the one who ordered the voice analysis."
"Hell must be freezing over. Jarred Sterling actually taking your side?" Luna let out a mocking laugh.
"Probably just because the other party isn't Celeste," Sienna scoffed.
Before she could finish, his towering frame stopped right in front of them.
Thea and Luna exchanged a glance with Sienna. "We'll wait for you in the car."
Before Sienna could protest, Jarred's cold voice cut in. "No need. I'm taking her home."
