Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 479

"A little something?"

Jarred stared down at her, his gaze as cold as if he were watching a pathetic circus act.

Gone was his usual refined composure, replaced only by a terrifying, absolute detachment.

"Tens of millions of dollars blown in a single day. Elite haute couture, discontinued luxury items, Michelin-starred chefs on call... Is this your definition of buying a little something?"

He stepped closer, his oppressive aura crushing down on her, ruthlessly tearing apart her delusional fantasies right to her face.

"I gave you a pass because you were young and foolish, and because your mother served me for years.

When she passed away unexpectedly, I felt indebted. That is why I gave you an out, time and time again.

I thought you would realize your mistakes and learn some restraint. I never imagined you would just push your luck, consumed by your endless greed."

Daisy's face drained of color as she slowly looked up at him.

He stood there in his sharp suit, his dark eyes deep and freezing, utterly devoid of warmth.

His handsome face was a mask of sheer apathy.

"The first time you demanded I take you home, I chalked it up to you being young, pathetic, and sheltered. Being terrified after an incident like that was somewhat forgivable.

But I don't tolerate repeat offenses. You refused to accept your place, dancing on my bottom line over and over again."

Daisy's face turned ashen. She shook her head in panic as tears immediately flooded her eyes. "No! Jarred!

I was wrong, I swear I'll never do it again!

Please forgive me this one time. I really know I was wrong..."

Jarred's face didn't twitch, projecting nothing but boundless indifference.

"Don't ever expect my forgiveness. If you had just behaved and stayed in your lane, I might have remembered you with a sliver of guilt down the road.

But now, every extra second I look at you just makes me sick."

Daisy's pupils trembled as she stared at him in sheer disbelief.

She opened her mouth, trying several times before she finally managed to force a sound out.
