Julian was getting a massive headache from Leo's unyielding rampage. "That was years ago! What's the point of dragging it out now?! You've spoiled Tessa for this long, what difference does it make if you keep doing it? Does it really have to get this ugly?"
Leo scoffed, leaning in to whisper into Julian's ear so only he could hear. "What if, ten years ago, when you were falsely accused of assaulting that female classmate, it was Willow who cleared your name? Would you still sit there on your high horse and tell me to let it slide?"
Julian froze completely. In that instant, his voice abandoned him.
It was Tessa's sobbing that snapped him back to reality. He let out a heavy sigh and pulled her to her feet. "Stop crying. It's just one competition. If you want, I'll host a dozen more for you later."
Tessa immediately understood the subtext. Julian was no longer going to fight a losing battle to protect her right now.
In that moment, Tessa suffered a total breakdown. She desperately wanted to defend herself, but with undeniable evidence plastered for all to see, nothing she said would matter.
Off to the side, Curtis's face was the color of ash. He stared at Leo in utter disbelief, never expecting him to detonate the scandal publicly.
Driven by sheer, spiteful fury, Curtis lashed out. "Fine! If you're going to throw me under the bus, I'm taking her down with me! I'm reporting her too—Tessa bought this composition! She bribed me for the prompt beforehand and hired a ghostwriter!"
Hearing this, Willow raised her eyebrows in amusement. Well, this was getting good. Watching dogs tear each other apart was excellent entertainment!
Willow had always wondered how Tessa, who possessed zero compositional talent, managed to produce such a decent piece. It turned out it was never hers to begin with!
If Leo's betrayal had dragged Tessa to the edge of the cliff, Curtis's confession pushed her straight into the abyss!
