Willow was momentarily speechless. Did she really look that gullible?
The black card practically screamed exclusivity. How could it possibly be a toy?
Yet Lucian's expression remained entirely casual, betraying no hint of a lie.
Was his perception warped from the amnesia?
Willow stared at him for a moment before sighing. "Forget it. Let's head back first."
Lucian blinked, staying rooted to the spot.
She turned back, looking at him in confusion. "Why aren't you moving?"
He massaged his temples without batting an eye. "Dizzy."
Willow was utterly speechless.
Resigned to her fate, she supported Lucian's weight and guided him back to the apartment.
In the distance, a camera flash pierced the night sky before vanishing instantly.
Sensing something, Willow turned her head, but she saw nothing out of the ordinary.
Her shopping trip was ruined. After Elias's interruption, she had lost all desire to go out. She checked Lucian's vitals, changed his dressings, and got ready for bed.
But when it came time to sleep, a new problem arose.
She had only rented a one-bedroom apartment. There was only one bed. How were they supposed to sleep?
Willow glanced sideways at Lucian, then turned to the closet, pulled out a spare set of bedding, and expertly laid it out on the floor.
Watching her, Lucian raised an eyebrow. Not bad. She knew she was the one taking the floor. At least she wasn't completely heartless; his effort to help her hadn't been entirely wasted.
But before that thought even settled, he heard her say, "You take the floor tonight. I'll buy a folding cot for you tomorrow."
Lucian nearly laughed out of sheer disbelief. "I'm the patient here."
"So what?" Willow wasn't having it. "This is my house."
For a second, Lucian was actually at a loss for words.
Willow couldn't care less. She happily grabbed a pillow, turned her back to him, and promptly fell asleep.
