After Elias Landon finished speaking, his gaze locked onto Willow Shaw.
He knew how deeply she had once loved him, naturally assuming that a single soft word from him would smooth over all their past conflicts.
At least in this moment, he genuinely believed she would eagerly agree.
Willow met his stare for two seconds, but instead of following his script, she burst into a completely uninhibited laugh.
Tilting her head, she looked at him with genuine curiosity. "Elias, I have to ask. Who gave you this inflated sense of confidence?"
Elias stared back in shock, finally registering the blatant mockery in her eyes.
Willow articulated every word with lethal precision. "Elias, you are absolutely filthy. I wouldn't even take someone like you as a cheap fling."
Every single word felt like a sharp needle piercing his heart, tearing his massive ego to shreds.
"Willow!" Elias snapped, losing his temper. "I just had a moment of weakness and made a mistake. Do you really have to speak to me like that?"
Willow found his excuse laughable. "A mistake? A mistake that ended with you in someone else's bed? A mistake that led to marriage? Elias, I don't think you grasp the reality of your situation. You're a divorced man now. Even a stray dog wouldn't want you. Just looking at you makes my stomach turn."
With that, she turned to leave, but he aggressively blocked her path. "This isn't the time for your tantrums, Willow. Let me make this clear—if you miss this chance, we are never getting back together!"
"Then I'll thank my lucky stars I dodged that bullet!" She sidestepped him, thoroughly done with the conversation.
But he clung to her like a parasite. Having grown up malnourished, Willow simply didn't have the physical strength to match a grown man.
She couldn't shake him off!
