Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 207

Willow's mind went completely blank. She stared into the restaurant in a daze, unable to command her own limbs.

It wasn't until York tugged gently on her arm that she snapped out of it. His voice was incredibly soft. "Let's go. We'll find somewhere else. Don't let this ruin your mood."

Willow didn't say a word. She simply let the heavy door swing shut and walked away.

Simultaneously, as if struck by a sixth sense, Lucian glanced toward the entrance. However, all he saw was York's retreating back and the fleeting silhouette of the person walking ahead of him.

Blocked completely by York's broad shoulders, he could only catch a glimpse of a shimmering silver mermaid hemline.

Lucian furrowed his brows. His instincts told him that the silhouette looked familiar.

But on second thought, he dismissed the idea. Willow hated Western cuisine; she would never voluntarily step foot in a place like this.

Refocusing his attention, Lucian raised his fork with chilling indifference, swatting away Daphne's intrusive hand. "I believe I made myself perfectly clear. This engagement was never my choice, nor do I have any intention of honoring it. Daphne, go back home. And stay away from my people."

The sickeningly sweet smile on Daphne's face instantly dissolved, her eyes turning into shards of ice. She scoffed. "She's just a pianist. Is she really worth this much obsession? Lucian, with your status, you could snap your fingers and have any world-class musician begging to be your mistress. Why waste your time on one random woman?"

Lucian's expression was even colder than hers, his gaze piercing through her with lethal precision.

Daphne instinctively averted her eyes before rallying her arrogance. "Am I wrong? Lucian, I care for you, and I intend to marry you. I understand you're young and want to have your fun. I don't care how many mistresses you keep before we wed, as long as you remain loyal after the vows. But I absolutely forbid you from breaking our engagement over some peasant!"
