York scoffed. "If throwing cash at her would get her to treat me a little nicer, I'd sign the check myself."
Tessa's jaw practically dropped. This was entirely outside the realm of what she expected.
York drawled methodically, "Besides, if I'm perfectly happy being wrapped around her finger, what the hell does it have to do with you? I'd gladly be her sidepiece just for the chance to stay near her. Why don't you mind your own damn business? I can see the cheap manipulation radiating off you. Frankly, just looking at you makes me sick."
It was an absolutely lethal verbal strike.
Tessa flushed a violently humiliating shade of red. She opened her mouth multiple times but couldn't choke out a single word of defense.
She couldn't process it. Wouldn't a billionaire heir like York fundamentally despise a gold-digging tramp?
Why was he reacting like a desperate simp?
Lucian shot York a dark look, absolute hostility radiating from his eyes.
Willow, on the other hand, found York's declaration wildly unsettling. Anyone listening would think she was The Fatal Enchantress. And the guy was practically volunteering to be her dirty secret...
Hard pass.
"That's enough!" Seeing Tessa getting utterly destroyed, Silas couldn't hold back anymore. He glared dangerously at Willow. "I never imagined you'd turn into something so repulsive. Willow, being related to you is a complete disgrace!"
With that, he pulled himself up with Tessa's help and shot a harsh look at his muscle. His men instantly formed a tight ring around Willow.
Willow didn't even flinch. Instead, she pressed her hand down firmly over Lucian's pocket to stop him from drawing his gun again.
"Relax. If you hadn't hijacked my clinical trials, I wouldn't have bothered wasting a single breath on you. Silas, I have zero interest in being your sister. Get the hell out of my center right now, or don't complain when I make this ugly."
Her voice was frighteningly dead, devoid of a single drop of emotion. It sent Silas into another tailspin.
