Elias chuckled, his tone bordering on cruel. "Tessa, you just happen to be pregnant."
You just happen to be pregnant.
The words echoed in Tessa's mind, a freezing chill sinking deep into her bones.
Willow shot them a sideways glance, completely uninterested in their messy marital drama. She gave a clean, flat refusal. "It's inappropriate. I'm not going."
Upon hearing this, Tessa threw her head back like a deranged woman, glaring at Willow with bloodshot eyes. "Inappropriate? What are you trying to hint at? Are you in that much of a rush to force me out? You won't be satisfied until you've stripped me of absolutely everything, will you?"
Her sudden outburst startled Willow.
She looked at Tessa in bemusement. The woman's expression was so twisted she looked like a demon crawling out of hell.
At that moment, Willow actually found it hilarious.
She tilted her head. "Weren't you the one who spent your entire life stealing from me? What exactly do you have to be upset about?"
Tessa froze, unable to formulate a single defense.
Elias looked thoroughly exhausted. "I just paid off your massive debt. What else is there to complain about? Tessa, my patience has limits. Keep pushing me, and even with that child, I won't hold back."
Tessa alternated between laughing and crying.
She couldn't comprehend how everything had devolved into this nightmare in less than two months.
Xavier chimed in with icy disdain. "The marriage originally belonged to Willow anyway. Even if she did get back together with Elias, she'd just be taking back what was hers. Who do you think you are?"
Tessa's face turned completely white as the terrifying reality set in: Xavier's loyalty was entirely gone.
There was no saving this relationship.
Fortunately, Xavier was going to prison very soon.
Tessa looked pitifully at Silas and whispered, "Do you think that too, Silas?"
Unable to bear her tearful gaze, Silas shook his head gently. "It's not your fault, Tessa. Don't blame yourself."
Willow rolled her eyes, entirely out of patience. Snatching the check from Elias, she turned to Lucian. "Let's go. If I listen to them for one more minute, I'm going to throw up."
Silas's face darkened, but just as he was about to snap at her, Lucian shot him a single, deadly look that silenced him instantly.
Silas's eyes darted to the bulge of the gun in Lucian's pocket, a massive headache forming behind his eyes.
This lawless psychopath was going to get himself killed sooner or later!
Did he genuinely think he was part of the real Jagger family?
It was utterly laughable.
What was a few more days of tolerating him?
With that thought, Silas swallowed his anger.
Meanwhile, Elias kept his eyes fixed on Willow, his gaze darkening as he watched her holding Lucian's hand.
But he had no high ground to throw a tantrum.
After all, he was the one who had messed around with Tessa first.
