Willow had a million questions, but couldn't bring herself to ask.
After all, what if she was just overthinking it?
She didn't even know the CEO of Lycian Global. What if it was just a coincidence?
Willow stayed silent for a couple of seconds before letting out a soft laugh. "Got it. Thank you."
Caleb raised an eyebrow but didn't press the matter.
Jude turned to glance at her, sensing that something was weighing heavily on her mind.
He couldn't help but ask, "Are you upset?"
Willow briefly snapped out of her daze and asked softly, "Jude, have you ever met the CEO of Lycian Global?"
Jude froze for a second before smiling. "My family has had business dealings with him, but honestly, we've never met the man himself. All our partnerships are usually handled by his representatives. We've been working with him for two years now, and all we know is that his last name is Faulkner."
Faulkner?
Willow frowned, mentally scanning everyone she knew with that last name, but she came up empty.
She couldn't figure it out.
She decided not to torture herself over it.
Anyway, whether this Mr. Faulkner was intentionally getting close to her or if fate just kept throwing them together, it didn't really matter.
She would meet him eventually.
And when she did, she would finally know exactly who he was.
Willow smiled and replied, "He sounds pretty mysterious."
Jude nodded vigorously, as if he had found a kindred spirit. "Exactly! Very mysterious! After all these years, the only thing I know is that he has some unforgettable childhood sweetheart. But aside from that, nothing! Not her identity, not even if it's a guy or a girl—total radio silence. Do you think this guy just doesn't socialize at all? It's like he's under some strict government NDA."
Willow let out a laugh. "Agent Jude, I order you to investigate his files immediately!"
Jude played along. "I'm afraid that's an impossible mission, ma'am!"
Willow couldn't hold back anymore and laughed so hard her shoulders shook.
Jude watched the bright smile on her profile and naturally opened the car door for her, preparing to take her home.
Willow checked the route and said, "Let's head to The Aegis Research Center. I have a few things to wrap up there."
Jude casually asked for the address and sighed with a smile. "Our Willow really is good at everything."
Happy from the compliment, Willow didn't try to hide her pride, flashing a brilliant smile.
Jude grew even fonder of her by the second.
