Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 33

Xavier's face went blank for a second, staring at Willow in a daze. For a moment, he actually doubted his own ears.

What did Willow just say?

Severance?

Was she joking?

Ever since she was a child, Willow had been starved for affection. She would do absolutely anything just to hear a single word of praise from him.

As a child, she thought acing her exams would earn his praise, so she slept only four hours a night, beating the second-place student by a massive fifty-point margin.

As she grew older, she believed being obedient would earn his affection, so she never threw tantrums, always acting perfectly compliant.

Later, she thought yielding to Tessa would make them proud, so no matter how reluctant she felt, she handed over her prized possessions on a silver platter.

She had even surrendered her own wedding and the handmade dress she'd meticulously sewn.

How could someone like Willow ever want to cut ties with him?

It wasn't just Xavier; the rest of the Shaw brothers were equally paralyzed, staring at Willow in sheer disbelief.

Leo furrowed his brows, shouting angrily, "Willow! Are you seriously pushing us this far just to spite Tessa? Do you honestly think threatening me with a severance agreement will make me cave?"

His outburst snapped everyone back to reality. The lingering confusion in Xavier's eyes vanished, replaced by cold certainty.

Right. Willow was just using this as a desperate ploy for attention.

Otherwise, Xavier couldn't fathom a single logical reason why she would actually want to leave the family.
