Willow was momentarily stunned. In fact, she was even more surprised than Silas!
But the confusion cleared the moment she saw the two men standing behind Felix.
Lucian Jagger and Caspian Skye.
Willow lowered her eyes, a fleeting smile curving her lips.
She could guess exactly what Lucian was thinking. He simply didn't want her alone with York Lockwood.
It made sense.
When Willow had first made a good friend, she too used to panic if that friend spoke to anyone else.
She had been terrified of being abandoned.
It was a classic symptom of someone starved for affection.
A soft look entered her eyes. Lucian had really gone out of his way—even dragging Felix and Caspian along just to have an excuse to find her.
Meeting Willow's gaze, Lucian looked a little guilty. He stepped up beside her, smoothly placing himself between her and York, before murmuring, "Sorry for showing up without asking..."
Willow couldn't help but laugh, the sound light and graceful. "Weren't you just trying to back me up?"
The tension bled out of Lucian's chest, his eyes softening with warmth.
York's hands clenched into fists at his sides, his cold glare fixed on Lucian. The man was like a stubborn ghost that refused to leave.
Fortunately, Lucian would be heading back overseas soon.
Once he was gone, York had plenty of ways to win her over.
On the other side of the room, Silas was completely frozen, his lips moving soundlessly as he struggled to find his voice.
Felix had come specifically to support Willow.
Though Felix didn't know Willow personally, he was close friends with Lucian, and he had heard plenty about Silas's unsavory behavior.
On the way over, Felix had asked the producer for a quick rundown and knew exactly what had transpired during the audition.
