Once everyone had left, Willow closed the conference room door and immediately dialed Lucian's number.
With the massive time difference, it was currently 3:00 AM where Lucian was.
Yet the phone only rang three times before it connected.
Lucian's husky voice came through the speaker, laced with an unspeakable sex appeal. "Willow?"
Willow's ears tingled, and she unconsciously pursed her lips. "Did I wake you?"
A low chuckle sounded from the other end, followed by his slightly sleep-laden response. "No, I'm just happy you called. Willow, did you miss me, or are you in trouble?"
Hearing that, Willow felt a twinge of guilt, but answered honestly anyway. "I wanted to ask for a favor. I need a personal bodyguard—preferably one who knows how to fly a plane. It's urgent; I need them in two hours, and I don't have those kinds of connections myself, so..."
Lucian's sleepiness instantly vanished. He sat up sharply, his eyes narrowing. "Are you in danger?"
"No, just taking precautions."
Willow couldn't be entirely sure her suspicions were correct. What if she had misunderstood the situation?
After all, she had no hard evidence; she just felt Anya was incredibly sketchy.
Lucian laughed softly. "Good habit. Send me your location. I'll have someone there in an hour."
Willow's eyes curved into a smile. Realizing he couldn't see her, she softly murmured, "Thank you."
Her soft, delicate voice traveled through the phone, causing a sudden, inexplicable itch in his heart.
If she were right next to him at this very moment, Lucian knew he wouldn't be able to stop himself from pulling her into his arms.
