Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 371

In that agonizing second, Willow's heart practically leaped out of her chest.

Sensing her sudden panic, Lucian pressed a soothing kiss to the corner of her mouth. "Don't be scared. She can't get in."

Just as he predicted, the handle was pushed down as far as it could go, but the door refused to budge.

Willow exhaled a shaky breath of relief as the maid spoke up again. "Your Highness, the door is locked. There shouldn't be anyone inside."

Daphne frowned, pausing for a long moment before abruptly interrupting her. "How long until the groundskeeper gets here?"

The maid blinked, confused by the sudden shift in topic. "Less than an hour, ma'am."

A ruthless chill flashed in Daphne's eyes. "Call him in early. Right now. I must find Lucian!"

Willow scowled. Daphne was relentlessly stubborn; even after finding a locked door, she still refused to leave.

Not daring to disobey, the maid nodded. "Right away, Your Highness."

Daphne scoffed coldly. "I refuse to believe he can just vanish into thin air on my own property!"

By any means necessary, Daphne was not going to let this go.

Willow massaged her temples, shooting a helpless look at Lucian, who still showed no signs of calming down.

This level of stamina was ridiculous. The man was practically inhuman.

Gritting her teeth, Willow realized she couldn't afford to drag this out any longer. Throwing caution to the wind, she leaned right into his ear and whispered, "Husband..."

Her voice was slightly muffled, thick with stiff embarrassment, but that single word worked like absolute magic on him.

His brow furrowed deeply as his large hand cupped the back of her head, pulling her into an intense, bruising kiss.

Swept away by his overwhelming dominance, Willow completely lost herself to the moment until he finally found his release.

As her mind slowly rebooted, she couldn't help but curse her own stupidity. If she had known that one word was the ultimate trigger, she wouldn't have subjected her hand to such an agonizing marathon.

Willow hadn't brought any tissues, but thankfully, Lucian always carried a silk handkerchief.

He seemed to have regained his clarity, meticulously cleaning her fingers with gentle care.

Then, he tenderly kissed her flushed fingertips, his voice a low, gravelly rasp. "Thank you."

Willow scrutinized him for a moment to ensure the drug had truly cleared his system before glaring at him. A second later, she guiltily averted her gaze. "Just... put your clothes back on."
