Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 380

Lucian chuckled. "Your Majesty, if that's the case, I wouldn't mind putting a random illegitimate child on the family registry."

King Alaric was practically driven mad by the remark. After all, when the Jagger family and the royal family first drew up the marriage contract, a specific name hadn't been signed. It only stipulated that it had to be an heir of the Jagger family.

Because Lucian was the only legitimate son, the engagement naturally fell onto his shoulders.

Lucian himself didn't want an illegitimate child brought into the family, afraid it would disturb his late mother's peace.

But if the King was going to force his hand with threats, Lucian wouldn't mind finding some illegitimate son to take his place.

He was sure plenty of men would jump at the chance to marry The Princess.

Daphne's face drained of color. She looked up at Lucian, thoroughly dazed. "We've known each other for so many years... Have you truly never felt anything for me?"

Lucian laughed outright. "Don't flatter yourself, Daphne. I told you a long time ago that I would never marry you."

With that, he turned to Sylvester Wade. "Where is the royal doctor? Have them administer the antidote to Willow. If anything happens to her, I won't let any of you off the hook."

Daphne's face was terrifyingly pale, her body swaying unsteadily. She glared intensely at Willow, unable to fathom how such an ordinary woman could win Lucian's heart.

Willow couldn't be bothered with her, but she wasn't ready to leave just yet. This was too good of a show to miss. "You can administer the antidote right here."

The royal doctor shot the King an anxious look. The King waved his hand irritably, and only then did the doctor step forward.

King Alaric had considered using Willow's life to threaten Lucian, but unfortunately, the poison in her system wasn't severe. Any doctor with basic medical skills could cure it.

He had zero leverage.
