Chapter 362
Kameron and Ian rushed out. It was clear they wouldn’t rest until they caught Tristan.
Fair enough. After searching for Tristan for days, he turned up strolling right under their noses. It was no wonder lan couldn’t take it anymore.
“Alright, they’re gone. Let’s get down to business.” Ashton tapped his index finger on the table, getting everyone’s attention and signaling for Briar to speak.
Briar was surprised. “How did you know I had something important to say?”
She hadn’t looked like she was holding back, had she?
Ashton chuckled. “Honey, we’re a married couple now. We should at least have that kind of connection.”
Although Briar said nothing, her eyes were far from calm.
“Alright, let’s talk business then.” Briar got straight to the point. “You all know I’m seeking revenge for my mother. In fact, it’s common knowledge among the elite families of Shoneport. So, those people must know about it, too.
“But why haven’t any of them actually tried to stop me yet?”
Louie had only begun to seriously investigate their backgrounds after receiving an invitation from Gideon, so he wasn’t clear on the power wielded by the people behind the scenes.
“Are they trying to buy time so they can strike when you let your guard down?”
Brandon said, “No. Rather than buying time, they are waiting for the right moment, a perfect opportunity to kill Mrs. Wade with a single blow.”
Ashton nodded. “That’s right. They know they have no chance of winning a head–on battle with their current manpower and combat strength. So, they plan to lie low and strike when we let our guard down.”
“Hmm, your analysis makes sense, but aren’t they afraid we’ll strike first and wipe them out?” Louie asked, puzzled.
Although the tactic was safe, a proactive attack would be more effective than lying in wait, considering the current situation.
Brandon explained to Louie, ‘Louie, you may not know their nature. They are rather traditional and won’t make a move unless necessary. If we don’t press them, they’d rather wait for the right opportunity to wipe us all out at once,”
However, unlike merciful traditionalists, those people were sinister and suspicious, and they refused to act rashly.
They would be ruthless and eliminate everyone once they struck.
It was a miracle that Briar managed to survive them.
“Now that you’ve put it that way, I’m actually looking forward to seeing their methods,” Louie said thoughtfully, stroking his
chin.
The more he heard about their methods, the more they reminded him of someone from the first batch of recruits at the DDC Vanguard Mercenary Special Operations Base…
The others didn’t notice Louie’s strange reaction. Brandon smiled and said, “Don’t worry, Louie. It won’t be long. We’ll force them out into the open.”
Louie nodded without saying anything more.
“Do you think they haven’t made a move because I’m always with you and never alone?” Briar brought the topic back, proposing a dangerous idea. “I’m thinking of going for a walk by myself tonight.”
“No!”
“No!”
Two voices rose in objection at the same time.
Briar was silent.
Ashton and Louie both stared intently at Briar until Ashton finally spoke, “Honey, you know how dangerous your situation is. Even if it’s a good idea, it’s not worth risking your life. What if…?”
If anything went wrong–if she got hurt–Ashton wouldn’t care about Gideon’s “bigger picture.” He would hunt down every last one of those people and tear them limb from limb.

Briar might not hang out often with Mollie, his wife, or Neera, Kameron’s wife, but Briar had learned all their roguish tricks perfectly.
