When it came to connections and resources, Khloe was undeniably formidable. Stanley had no desire to make an enemy of her.

But Alicia’s attitude was becoming unbearable. His temper finally snapped, and he went so far as to praise Khloe outright, even admitting he envied Trey for having such a capable wife.

That single comment shattered Alicia’s composure. In a blind rage, she smashed his game console and every one of his treasured game discs to pieces. 1

“Why must you make things worse? A man has his pride. There was no need to pick a fight with Stanley over Khloe,” Stella scolded, frowning as she patted her daughter’s hand. She was torn between pity for her child and fury at the situation..

That Khloe! It was bad enough she was a drain on the Fox family, but now she was stirring up trouble–she was nothing but a curse.

“She’s bewitched him! I bet they’re having an affair! I won stand for this. I’m going to confront her myself!”

The more Alicia thought about it, the angrier she became. She shot to her feet, but her vision swam, and she collapsed on the spot.

That evening, Trey had just finished dinner with Angela when his mother called, ordering him to come to Alicia’s house immediately.

Seeing his frown, Angela’s heart sank. “Trey, what’s wrong

“I’m not sure. It sounds like Alicia fainted. My mother was very insistent.”

His mother rarely used that tone with him. Worried it was serious, Trey dropped Angela and little Pete off at their door and rushed over.

The moment he stepped inside, he was met with the sound of Alicia’s sobs.

“Mom, Alicia–what happened?” He hurried into the room his brow furrowed in concern. A wave of relief washed over him when he saw her lying safely in bed.

The family doctor had just finished his examination. He explained that Alicia’s fainting spell was due to low blood sugar, made worse by extreme emotional distress. After prescribing some supplements, he took his leave.

Once the servants were gone and the door closed, Stella finally recounted the day’s events. Of course, in her version, Khloe’s actions were twisted into deliberate insults against her and a calculated attempt to destroy Alicia’s marriage.

“That girl is doing it on purpose! Allowing her to marry you was an act of charity from this family, and she shows no gratitude. Now she has the nerve to put on airs in front of me and Alicia!

“An ill–matched marriage was always a burden. But a woman who thrives on chaos like she does? I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s truly opened my eyes!”

Trey struggled to believe it. “Mom, there must be some misunderstanding. I know Khloe. She isn’t that kind of person.”

“You know her? What do you really know about her?”
