Seeing Winnie walk forward in a dazed, unfocused state, Charlotte quickly took her hand and gently comforted her.

"Winnie… Michael will be fine."

"Why?"

Winnie still couldn't understand it—no matter how she tried, she couldn't make sense of what had happened. He had only gone out to the convenience store to buy something. How did he end up… nearly dying?

Winnie's breath caught. She couldn't help but glance back at Michael, and it felt as though even her internal organs were aching with him.
