Billionaire's Match (by Tangy Candy) novel Chapter 1188

"Khloe, sweetheart, you've had it rough these past few days. Whatever it was for, whoever in this family it was for, you need to rest now. Let me show off my cooking skills tonight and cook you something special."

Leon's face softened into a doting smile. There wasn't a trace of worry on his brow, his composure so steady it was as if nothing had changed at all.

Khloe stood frozen for a moment, and before she could answer, Loretta had already pulled her back toward her room.

On the other end of the line, Arista heard the commotion and let out a relieved sigh before quietly hanging up.

She hoped that with Loretta and Leon by Khloe's side, Khloe could make it through this.

Night fell before Loretta finally managed to calm Khloe's emotions.

Nick had walked away without a word to Arista or anyone else, avoiding even Leon and Loretta, the grandparents who doted on him more than anyone.

The Hunt family understood why Nick had made such a decisive choice, but Loretta was still furious about it, furious enough that she'd once threatened to leave the country with Leon and simply pretend she had no grandson.

But then she thought of Khloe, and of her great-grandchild on the way, and she couldn't bring herself to go through with it.

Nick had probably known exactly how things would play out. The way he'd pushed away his whole family mirrored what Khloe had done, and it had drained away whatever anger they'd held toward her. If anything, it only made them want to look after her in his place.

"Khloe, sweetheart, all you need to do right now is rest and carry this baby safely to term. I believe Nick isn't fated to die so young. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise us yet."

Loretta talked in circles with Khloe, but she had only scraps of information about Nick's actual condition.

Arista and George were both consumed with their own efforts because of Nick, with no time to spare for anything else.

George was overseas handling company matters, while Arista was running from doctor to doctor, chasing down any new hope for treatment.

Arista, at least, stayed optimistic. Everyone else assumed Nick had vanished to avoid facing goodbyes and grief in whatever time he had left, but Arista believed he might genuinely have found a way to treat his illness.
