That was the payoff of years spent nurturing his health deep in the mountains.
Cyrus's sudden question left Anna a little stunned.
She hadn't spent much time with her father growing up, so their bond had never run especially deep; if anything, they related more like coworkers than family. Cyrus was something of an eccentric, always absorbed in his own world, never one to pry into other people's private affairs, not even his own daughter's.
"Dad, no... and why are you even asking?" Anna answered only after a few seconds' pause, her face turning to the side without meaning to, her cheeks flushing faintly.
Cyrus pushed up his old, worn glasses. "I think the two of you look good together. If you like him, why don't I have a word with him and get you married off?"
"Dad! Don't talk nonsense!" Anna froze, then immediately cut him off. "Mr. Hunt has a wife, and the two of them love each other very much..."
"I know." Cyrus cleared his throat, pulled out his phone, and swiped through a few screens. "I checked the news. Isn't he getting a divorce? Once that's done, he can just marry you instead."
The reason Cyrus lived deep in the mountains was twofold: to study medicine with a clear, undistracted mind, and because he'd grown bitterly disillusioned with modern society and the wealthy in particular.
He had once worked at one of the country's best hospitals, where he'd seen more than his share of ugliness.
When money could buy anything, the first principle of medicine stopped being to save lives. It could just as easily become a blade for manufacturing suffering.
He'd sworn once, long ago, never to forget why he'd first picked up medicine: to heal the sick and help the suffering. The wealthy, who could already afford the best care money could buy, would never be his patients.
Nick had been no exception. Cyrus had refused to treat him at first.
It was only after Anna's endless pleading, every kind word she could think of, and Cyrus's own research proving that Nick wasn't like other business tycoons, that he was a man who genuinely held to his principles and gave back to the world, that Cyrus finally agreed to make an exception.
But an exception still came with a price.

The readers' comments on the novel: Billionaire's Match (by Tangy Candy)
Will more chapters be downloaded? It’s been awhile and I’m still seeing chapter 1175....
When will chapter 1044 and more bd downloaded?...
This is the story that I like reading. The heroine got the hold of the situation right away. No humiliation, no injustice, which keep the readers feeling bad all the way while waiting for the right thing to settle in favor of the heroine. Good storyline, congrats writer!...
