Billionaire’s Regret After Losing Her (Aurelia) novel Chapter 206

Chapter 206 Good Days

“The person who killed my daughter gets to walk away free,” Lauren continued, and tears streamed down her face. “And what do I get? My husband’s gone, one of my babies is dead, and I don’t even know if the other one’s going to make it.”

“So this is all my fault—” Eleanor started, but Lydia cut her off. “Mom, enough.”

Lydia had always been close to Lauren, and right now she shot Eleanor a warning look that said back off.

Eleanor clenched her jaw. She’d already dealt with enough crap from the Hawthorne family today, and now Lauren was piling on more guilt. Her temper was ready to explode.

Lydia squeezed Eleanor’s hand tighter and turned to face Lauren. “Mom promised you a reward for giving the family these babies. She would keep that promise.”

“I don’t even care about a reward,” Lauren said, and her voice dropped. “My mom’s going to be back soon, and I just want to make sure she gets what she-”

She stopped mid-sentence and didn’t finish.

But everyone knew what she meant. She was bringing Marilyn into this, using her as leverage like she always did.

Eleanor’s anger cooled instantly at the mention of Marilyn. Marilyn wasn’t someone they could push around or ignore.

Lydia caught Eleanor’s eye and gave her a meaningful look, silently urging her to let it go. Lauren picked up on it, too, and leaned harder on the Marilyn card.

Finally, Eleanor’s expression softened, and she let out a long breath. “Fine. You gave the Hawthorne family twins. I’m not going to let that go unrewarded.”

But what the hell was she supposed to give her?

Eleanor’s mind went blank. She couldn’t think of a single appropriate reward.

Aurelia ruined everything at the auction today, snatching up the two best items like it was nothing.

Grant was already throwing money around for her like she was worth every penny.

First the blue diamond, then the red one. Aurelia had walked away with both.

“So who bought the blue diamond?” Lauren asked the moment Eleanor gave in.

The question made both Eleanor and Lydia’s expressions darken. Lydia scoffed and said, “Who else? Aurelia, of

course.”

Lauren’s face fell at the answer. “How could she afford it? Where did she even get that kind of money?”

That blue diamond was worth a fortune.

“Where do you think?” Lydia snapped. “Grant paid for it. That homewrecking bitch has no shame.”

“Enough,” Eleanor cut her off sharply.

Bringing up the fact that Aurelia spent Grant’s money right now only made Dominic look weak and pathetic. This wasn’t something they should broadcast.

And Aurelia hadn’t just spent Grant’s money today. She’d done it right in front of Dominic’s face.

“It wasn’t just the blue diamond either,” Lydia added bitterly. “She bought the red diamond too.”

The memory alone made Lydia’s blood boil. She’d been planning to ask for the red diamond as a little gift after Eleanor rewarded Lauren, but everything they’d wanted today had slipped through their fingers.

Lauren’s expression turned stormy. She’d had her eye on that blue diamond for ages and had been dropping hints to Eleanor for months.

That was why Eleanor had gone to the auction today in the first place.

And Aurelia had stolen it right out from under her. Why did Aurelia always have to get in her way?

Over at Starlight Hill, Gareth had everything from the auction delivered straight to Aurelia’s room.

moment she got off work.

When she walked into Aurelia’s room and saw all the

items spread out, her eyes went wide. “Damn, that auction was stacked with good stuff.”

Usually, at these auctions, they saved the best pieces for the grand finale.

But today, every single item was top-tier.

She’d heard through the grapevine that Eleanor had been planning to bid on the blue diamond as a reward for

Lauren.

Yet here all those treasures were, sitting in Aurelia’s room

instead.

Aurelia nodded and said, “Yeah, they opened with the blue diamond. That kind of showstopper usually comes at

the end.”

“So they really went all out today,” Chloe said with a grin. “But you just openly competed with the Hawthorne family for everything, didn’t you? Then again, after all those years of taking the blame, I guess turnabout’s fail:03 play. Lauren always acted like you were stealing from her

anyway, right? Well, now you actually did!”

This time, Aurelia had taken what she wanted right out in

the open.

Aurelia let out a bitter laugh. “Yeah, back then, whenever the Hawthorne family had anything nice, Lauren would snatch it up. And if Dominic happened to give something to me first, she’d put on this whole wounded act like I’d stolen it from her.

“And the second she pulled that routine, Eleanor would march over and take it back to give to Lauren. Basically, those gifts just passed through my hands for five minutes before disappearing.”

Dominic knew it was happening, but he never said a

word.

Over the years, he’d given her countless gifts, and every single one had been nothing more than a brief pit stop before ending up with Lauren.

Back then, she’d let the small trinkets go without a fight.

But this time, these items weren’t going anywhere. The 3

were staving right here.

“At the end of the day, you need to be strong yourself and have a powerful family backing you up,” Chloe said. “Men? They don’t mean shit, especially ones like

Dominic.”

Chloe refused to believe Dominic didn’t know what the Hawthornes had done to Aurelia.

He knew he just turned a blind eye to all of it as long as nothing blew up in his face.

“So when are you moving back to the Hawthorne Manor?” Chloe asked, and a spark of excitement crept into her voice. She couldn’t wait to see the chaos Aurelia would bring once she returned.

After all, the Hawthornes had no idea what had happened between her and the Smith family,

Before Aurelia could answer, Chloe added, “Now that I think about it, you’ve never actually fought with them at the Hawthorne Manor, have you?

“I mean, sure, things got pretty heated a while back, but you still gave them room to breathe.”

Back when Aurelia wasn’t making waves, the Hawthornes could at least hide from her when she was at the manor.

But now, based on what Aurelia was saying, she planned to march right into the Hawthorne Manor and turn the entire place upside down, with nowhere for anyone to

run.

“Actually, I could go now if I wanted to,” Aurelia said. “I’ve already arranged for my people.”

“What people?” Chloe asked.

“Housekeepers, a nutritionist, bodyguards-that sort of thing.”

“Damn, you really came prepared,” Chloe said with a laugh. “But I guess it makes sense. You need to recover somewhere, right? Might as well be there.”

Aurelia wasn’t the same person Eleanor could push around anymore.

When she went back to the Hawthorne Manor this time, the ones suffering wouldn’t be her. It would be every gingle one of the Hawthorne family.

“Then I’ll…” Aurelia trailed off, and her eyelids lifted slightly. For just a moment, a cold smile flickered in her

eyes.

“I’ll go tomorrow then.”

The Hawthornes’ good days were about to come to an end.
