Billionaire’s Regret After Losing Her (Aurelia) novel Chapter 273

Chapter 273 Rules

Lydia and Eleanor had been going back and forth all morning, and most of it was on foot.

They’d left early in the morning, and by the time they made it back home, it was already past noon.

Aurelia was eating lunch.

The smell of food hit them, and Eleanor and Lydia felt even more miserable.

They’d just come in from outside, and the cold wind had left them completely frozen. All they wanted now was something hot to eat.

Eleanor saw Aurelia eating, and she marched right up to her with an attitude. “We want food.” Her voice was tight with anger.

Aurelia had just taken a sip of soup when she heard Eleanor’s demand. She raised an eyebrow. “Sure, we’ll follow your rules. Everything’s already prepared for you both.”

The rule about not feeding freeloaders was something

Eleanor had said to Aurelia before.

Eleanor was already pissed off from her time at the Fletcher Manor, and now, hearing Aurelia’s words, she was shaking with rage. “What rules? This is the Hawthorne Manor, and I’m in my own home. What rules do I need to follow?”

Aurelia said, “I married Dominic, so I’m part of the Hawthorne family too. I’m in my own home, and I follow your rules, so why can’t you follow them yourself?”

Hearing Aurelia’s words, Eleanor and Lydia were furious beyond belief.

Eleanor was ready to explode, but the moment she

opened her mouth, Aurelia spoke first, “You better think carefully. It’s your own rules, no one’s going to baby you through them.”

Aurelia was reminding her about the slap she’d gotten before.

That phrase “no one’s going to baby you” landed like angther slap across Eleanor’s face.

Eleanor was so angry she nearly passed out.

But the insults she wanted to hurl at Aurelia stayed stuck in her throat, and she swallowed them back down.

Watching her face turn dark with suppressed rage, Aurelia smiled slightly. “So, are we eating or not?”

“Fine, we’re eating. What are you planning to pull today?” Eleanor snapped, her anger blazing.

That fury felt like it could burn Aurelia alive.

Aurelia gestured with her eyes. “Over there.”

Eleanor followed her gaze, and she spotted two huge baskets not far away. At first glance, she couldn’t tell what was inside.

She looked closer, and her stomach dropped. The baskets were stuffed full of curtains and carpets.

“What are those for?” Eleanor’s breathing quickened as she turned to Aurelia.

Aurelia smiled coldly, “Carpets and curtains. You’re the germaphobe, aren’t you? Back when we had servants, they hand-washed everything. But now the family needs to cut costs, so you’ll be hand-washing them.”

The person who had the problem could do the work.

Lydia stared at the two massive baskets of curtains and the rolled-up carpets, and she felt like she might pass out. This was way worse than scrubbing floors.

Lydia gritted her teeth. “Those are huge. You want us to hand-wash them? You’re doing this on purpose.”

Aurelia pointed at a small brush nearby. “Not just hand-wash. See that little brush? You’ll scrub every single inch clean with it.”

Lydia was speechless.

Eleanor couldn’t find any words either.

When Aurelia first came into this house, Eleanor had wanted to break her exactly like this. She’d planned to make Aurelia scrub carpets inch by inch with that tiny hrush and hand-wash all the curtains.

But Dominic had protected her back then, and Aurelia never bent the knee. That first time, Aurelia didn’t do any

of it.

But now, Eleanor and Lydia would do it all.

Seeing Eleanor and Lydia’s faces turn pale, Aurelia smiled, “What’s wrong? Don’t want to do it? Too bad, you don’t have a choice.”

Eleanor had tried to humiliate Aurelia this way before, so now Eleanor could do it herself.

Eleanor’s vision blurred, and she felt like she might pass

out.

Aurelia continued, “Oh, by the way, Lauren already ate. Kellen did her work for her.”

Hearing that Kellen helped Lauren made both Eleanor and Lydia’s minds race with possibilities, but then they remembered Marilyn wasn’t someone to mess with.

Marilyn sent Kellen here to take care of Lauren, so they didn’t dare set their sights on him.

“We’re starving. Can we eat first?” Eleanor asked through gritted teeth.

Aurelia’s expression hardened. “I know exactly what you two did today. One of you went to the Fletcher Manor, and the other went to see Grant. I know what you said.”

She leaned forward. “When you came after me, you wanted to destroy me completely. You don’t actually think I’m going to show you mercy now, do you?”

Grant was dangerous, and if things had gone the way they planned, she would’ve been finished.

Too bad for them, nothing went the way they expected.

Aurelia looked at Eleanor and Lydia with a smile, and both women felt their chests tighten under her gaze.

Aurelia said, “Don’t take too long, or you won’t get dinner tonight.”

Her tone was cold.

She’d found them the perfect job today.

Aurelia added, “Oh, and the curtains and rugs are made of special materials, so don’t use hot water.”

She was kind enough to remind them.

That reminder made Eleanor remember what she’d once

said to Aurelia.

Back then, when she’d made Aurelia wash these same things, she’d said the exact same words.

Now Aurelia was throwing it all back at her, word for word.

Eleanor’s vision swam as dizziness hit her. “Fine, torture me if you want, but can’t you see Lydia’s hurt?”

“So what? I had a miscarriage and lost my baby, but that didn’t stop you two from tormenting me.”

Eleanor fell silent.

Lydia said nothing.

When Aurelia mentioned her baby’s miscarriage, her

voice was light.

There wasn’t even a trace of hatred in it.

But that calm tone made Eleanor and Lydia’s blood run

cold.
