Eleanor saw Dominic’s expression and got even more furious. “I don’t know what the hell those cops are doing, and they still haven’t found any evidence that she killed the baby.”
The more Eleanor thought about it, the angrier she got.
If they found proof that Aurelia killed the baby, she’d be arrested and taken away.
Then everyone would finally have some peace, but the investigation was going nowhere.
She had to be getting help from someone. “I bet it’s Grant working behind the scenes, and that’s why they can’t find anything.
“And Grant-he knows she’s been sleeping with that German guy, but he’s still protecting her and he beat Lydia up like this.”
Everything piling up together was driving Eleanor insane, and she was getting more worked up by the second.
“What are we supposed to do now? Lydia weighs over a hundred pounds, so how are we going to get her to the hospital?”
If it were a child, carrying them that distance wouldn’ be a bigo

Eleanor had told her to eat less before, but she wouldn’t listen and kept stuffing her face.
Sure, she’d lost some weight these past few days, but what was that compared to her overall size?
“Say something!” Eleanor was losing it.
Dominic just stood there silent, so she turned her anger on him and waited for him to come up with a solution.
She thought about her youngest son, who had died from a high fever when he was just one year old.
Eleanor had been terrified of fevers ever since then.
Now seeing Lydia burning up, she was completely panicking.
“Get her to the hospital.” Dominic’s voice was sharp with frustration.
Eleanor stared at him. “And how exactly are we supposed to do that?”
Dominic froze. Right. How were they supposed to get her there? Aurelia wouldn’t even let them bring a car onto the
property. The thought made him snap, and he kicked the railing hard enough to make it rattle.

“How? We carry her on our backs, obviously.”

This was absolutely insane.
Dominic stormed straight to Lydia’s room and hauled her onto his back, then headed for the door. Eleanor scrambled to follow.
She was exhausted and starving, and now Lydia was sick on top of everything else.

The night air hit them like ice.
Eleanor quickly stripped off her jacket and wrapped it around Lydia.
“Aurelia’s really putting us through hell right now. I don’t know how much more of this I can take.” Eleanor’s voice was
bitter.
Living like this was driving her crazy. If things kept going this way, she honestly didn’t want to keep going anymore.
Forget Lauren’s depression-Eleanor was starting to feel depressed herself.
The thought of Lauren made her speak again. “Lauren’s tougher than I thought, you know? Even with all the pressure Aurelia’s been putting on us these past few days, her depression hasn’t flared up. But if it does now, if she has an episode on top of everything else, I swear I’m done. I can’t 3/6. handle it.”

If Lauren had a breakdown now, Eleanor genuinely didn’t think she could survive it.
Dominic, carrying Lydia on his back, suddenly went still at Eleanor’s words.
She was right. Aurelia had been absolutely brutal these past few days, and yet Lauren’s depression hadn’t acted up at all.
Why was that?
“She’s been hiding in her room this whole time?” Dominic asked.
Eleanor nodded. “Yeah, barely eating or drinking anything. Just stayed locked up in there.”
“I should be grateful she didn’t have an episode and make my life hell. Must’ve done something good in a past life.”
Dominic stayed silent.
She didn’t have a single episode, even in conditions this harsh.
Could she really have been faking it this entire time?
The thought made his blood run cold, and something dangerous flickered in his eyes.

After walking about a kilometer, sweat started beading on his forehead, and his muscles burned.
“You’re exhausted, aren’t you?” Eleanor noticed his breathing getting heavier, and her heart ached for him.
She turned to Lydia and tried to wake her up. “Lydia, can you walk on your own?”.
The road ahead stretched on forever, and carrying her the whole way seemed impossible.
There was no way Eleanor could carry her either.
Lydia’s voice came out weak. “I can’t. I don’t have any strength
left.”
Her whole body felt weak and cold, and she couldn’t manage even a single step.
Eleanor heard the exhaustion in her voice and couldn’t force her to walk, so she let Dominic stop and rest whenever he needed to.

Over at Hawthorne Manor, Gareth reported to Aurelia that Dominic had carried Lydia to the hospital on his back.

Chapter 284 What Did Smith Group Offer You?
Dominic finally got Lydia to the hospital around eleven at night.
But when he got there, he realized his money was completely useless.
He frantically called Jason to handle the payment, but because the patient was Lydia, Jason couldn’t process it either.
Aurelia had blocked the entire Hawthorne family.
This time, Dominic didn’t call Aurelia. He went straight to Grant instead.
They’d been close before, and he refused to believe Grant would let Aurelia go this far over a matter of life and death.
But when Grant answered, and Dominic explained the situation, there was silence on the other end.
Then Grant spoke. “There’s nothing I can do about this.”
Dominic froze. His heart sank at those words.
