Chapter 42 The Maplecrest Blueprint
After lunch, Chloe left.
Aurelia stayed at Vertex Biotech the entire afternoon. By the time people started clocking out, she finally packed up her. things.
Just as she stood to leave, her assistant, Amy Wilson, walked in carrying a manila envelope.
“Boss, this is from Mr. Fletcher.”
From Grant.
Aurelia took the envelope and opened it, pulling out the
contents.
It was evidence of Lauren’s plagiarism.
She flipped through the pages, then froze at a photograph.
There she was, sitting on the hillside of Maplecrest, holding a nearly–finished blueprint in her hands.
That blueprint was exactly the location that had been getting all the publicity buzz lately.

The timestamp showed it was taken three years ago in October, when the fall foliage was at its peak.
Such clear photographic evidence, and he actually had it…
Behind the photo was surveillance footage of Lauren entering the Tourism Bureau with that same blueprint.
The image was blown up, crystal clear. Even the timestamp was captured.
Aurelia had assumed Grant’s evidence would be some audio recordings at best.
She never expected it to be this thorough.
And there were so many crucial details!
Aurelia slid the documents back into the envelope.
“Where is Mr. Fletcher?”
“I don’t know. Miles dropped these off.” Amy shook her head.
Aurelia thought for a moment, then took the documents out again and photographed each one, saving copies to her email.
Finally, she placed the originals in the safe.

She stood, grabbing her things.
When she reached the office door, she turned back to Amy.
“Send me Mr. Fletcher’s phone number.”
Evidence this solid, this meticulous? She owed Grant a proper thank you.

When Aurelia stepped out of Vertex Biotech into the plaza, she spotted it immediately–Dominic’s jet–black G–Wagon, gleaming under the lights.
Gareth’s car was already there too, parked right behind it.
Seeing her approach, Gareth opened the door with a respectful bow.
Dominic’s eyes locked onto the Phantom. Jason’s message flashed through his mind.
Seeing this German guy again–everything screamed that something was going on between Grant and Aurelia.
Rage shot straight to Dominic’s skull.

her hand and foot?
His glare turned glacial as it fixed on Aurelia.
Let’s see if she really has the nerve to get in another man’s car. Right in front of her husband.
Turns out? She absolutely did.
Step by step, she walked toward that Phantom like he didn’t even exist.
Dominic’s fury exploded. He lunged forward and grabbed her wrist, yanking her back.
Gareth’s hand shot out instantly, gripping Dominic’s arm. “Mr. Hawthorne.”
“Get lost!”
Dominic shoved Gareth’s hand away and dragged Aurelia toward his own car.
But Gareth moved in again, blocking him.
“Gareth, go back,” Aurelia said firmly.
Gareth–who’d been two seconds from throwing hands-
stopped cold at her command.

He nodded. “Yes.”
Whatever was between her and Dominic had to be dealt with eventually. Avoiding him forever wasn’t an option.
Gareth stared at her, something unspoken in his eyes.
Aurelia knew what he wanted to say. Sure, her brother ruled Germany with an iron fist—but this was New York.
Her marriage to Dominic? Sebastian couldn’t touch it.

Dominic dragged Aurelia into his car.
The engine roared. He floored it.
Aurelia already got carsick easily. Within five minutes, the insane speed had her stomach churning violently.
Fed up with his reckless bullshit, she swung her hand and slapped him across the face.
The car slowed instantly.
Then he pulled over. Aurelia threw the door open and stumbled out, retching on the side of the road.

him. He grabbed a water bottle from the car and walked over.
Aurelia smacked it out of his hand. The bottle hit the ground, cap flying off, water spilling onto the grass.
Dominic’s face darkened, but he turned back to grab another
one.
By the time he returned, Aurelia had already pulled her own water from her bag. She rinsed her mouth, spit, and started walking down the road–not even a glance back.
These days, she was cold toward him every single moment.
It made him even angrier.
He got back in the car and followed her slowly, window down.
“Get in.”
She ignored him. Kept walking.
Dominic got out, scooped her up, and shoved her back into the
car.
This time, he drove more slowly.
He took her straight to Oakridge Estate.
