Chapter 50 You’ve Gone Too Far
Aurelia: “I don’t know.”
Chloe: “Huh? You don’t know? It wasn’t you?”
“I wouldn’t do something like that.”
Chloe: “…”
Really? Why was it so hard to believe Aurelia when she said that?
“Well, then she must’ve gotten what was coming to her somehow.”
The doubt only lasted a second before Chloe figured someone else must have gotten revenge on Marilyn.
“She trashed my apartment at the Evergreen Residences!”
Aurelia said.
“Wait, what? This is…”
Chloe was stunned.
If Aurelia’s apartment at the Evergreen Residences got trashed, then maybe Marilyn’s place at Emerald Bay Residences really wasn’t burned down by someone Aurelia hired?

Chloe cleared her throat awkwardly. “Well, um, you should get some sleep.”
Since Aurelia said she didn’t do it, then someone else definitely did.
No matter who did it, the whole thing was pretty satisfying
anyway.

Downstairs.
Eleanor saw Dominic coming down alone, dressed in a loose
bathrobe.
The collar hung slightly open, faint scratch marks visible beneath.
Her blood pressure spiked.
“Where is she?”
Dominic walked over, dropped onto the couch across from her, picked up a cigarette from the table, and lit it.
“I told you before,” he said calmly. “If you don’t like her, then don’t deal with her. Just pretend you don’t have a
daughter–in–law.”

And if she still couldn’t swallow her anger, she could pretend she didn’t have a son either.
At this point, Dominic didn’t care.
Eleanor’s vision went dark with rage.
“I don’t want to pretend,” she snapped. “I want her gone. I‘ want to not have her as my daughter–in–law at all.”
“Do you have any idea what kind of trouble she’s caused now?”
“She burned down Marilyn’s mansion—and took out two villas in the eastern suburbs with it.”
She slammed her hand down.
“Tell me what exactly is she trying to do? How did the Hawthorne family end up with someone like her?”
“The Hawthorne family and the Drake family have been on good terms for years. So what is this now?”
“Did marrying that piece of trash mean destroying the Hawthorne family too?”
She’d been burning with rage the entire way here.
Seeing Dominic only pushed her over the edge. 3/7

Dominic took a drag from his cigarette.
“Is the Hawthorne family made of paper?” he asked coolly. “Can one woman really destroy it?”
“It’s not made of paper,” Eleanor shot back, “but it won’t survive this witch tearing it apart!”
The Hawthorne family’s reputation had taken hit after hit these past few days.
She wanted Aurelia dead.
Before Dominic could respond, Eleanor went on, her words turning vicious.
“A wild little brat who doesn’t even know who her real parents are–of course she has no manners.”
“Though judging by her nature, even if she had parents, they clearly failed to raise her right.”
Rage twisted her expression. She wanted to dig up Aurelia’s entire bloodline from their graves–and curse them all.
“Enough!” Dominic snapped. His face turned thunderous.
Eleanor turned on him.

core. It’s in her genes.”
Upstairs, Aurelia stood frozen.
Listening to the venom spilling from Eleanor’s mouth, she didn’t go downstairs.
Instead, she turned. Walked into her room. Grabbed a random
basin from the bathroom and filled it to the brim with cold
water.
Downstairs, Eleanor’s vitriol continued.
“When you said you wanted to marry her, I told you–girls raised in orphanages come from trash genes. Parents who abandon their kids? What kind of scum does that? She—”
SPLASH!
CRASH!
Eleanor’s words died mid–sentence as a basin of ice–cold water
came crashing down on her head.
Drenched. Head to toe. Freezing.
Then the empty basin followed, slamming down right beside
her feet.

“АННННННН!!”
Eleanor’s shriek tore through the house, hysterical and raw.
She was losing it!
Dominic and Lydia stood frozen, mouths open, staring up at the second floor.
There stood Aurelia in her pajamas, leaning casually against the railing.
Eleanor pointed at her with a trembling finger. “You, you, you’re just…”
In that moment, she couldn’t even find the words to curse her.
She was trembling with rage, her eyes shooting fire at Aurelia.
Aurelia crossed her arms. “So. Mouth all cleaned up now?”
Eleanor nearly fainted from anger.
Lydia caught her from behind, steadying her. Seeing her own mother treated like this? Lydia’s fury ignited.
“You bitch, you’ve gone too far.”
