Chapter 52 Just One Bowl
Aurelia didn’t catch the nervousness in Mary’s voice.
She just thought the soup tasted awful. After two sips, she was done with it.
Aurelia set the bowl down.
Seeing her stop drinking, Dominic frowned.
“This soup is good for you. Finish it.”
Last night, she’d been ice cold until midnight—no warmth at
all.
Dominic suddenly realized something. When had Aurelia, who used to be like a little furnace whenever she touched him, become so physically weak?
She hadn’t been like this before.
Aurelia didn’t want to drink anymore. “I’m done. It tastes
terrible.”
When herbal soup is made right, it shouldn’t taste weird. What was up with Mary today?

kinda helpless.
He got up and sat in the chair next to her, picked up the soup bowl, scooped up a spoonful, and brought it straight to her lips.
“What are you doing?” Aurelia asked.
Seeing Dominic like this, her expression immediately went
sour.
“Finish this bowl,” Dominic said.
“I won’t drink it!”
With Dominic acting like this, Aurelia’s attitude hardened too.
And Dominic was just as stubborn, especially with the way he was looking at her right now.
Like her not finishing this soup would seriously tick him off.
He held the spoon to Aurelia’s lips. Aurelia looked down, and when her eyes landed on the bite marks on Dominic’s neck…
Bite marks?
From Lauren?

All the warmth in Aurelia’s eyes just vanished.
“Open your mouth,” Dominic said.
His tone was firm, like his patience was running out.
Aurelia pressed her lips together tight, then swept her hand out, knocking both the spoon and bowl to the floor.
Dominic: “.
…
His expression went dark instantly.
Mary, who was standing nearby, jumped when she saw the bowl crash to the floor.
That was something Dominic had gotten up early to make.
Mary glanced nervously at his dark expression and quickly went to find something to clean up the mess.
Aurelia completely lost her appetite for breakfast and stood up.
But Dominic grabbed her wrist tight.
Aurelia tried to shake him off, but the man’s grip was like steel. “Just one bowl.”

Mary had just brought over a broom when she heard Dominic’s low growl.
“Get another bowl for Mrs. Hawthorne.”
Soon, Mary brought out another bowl and placed it in front of Aurelia.
Dominic reached over and took it, scooped up a spoonful, and brought it to Aurelia’s lips again.
“Don’t you realize how bad your health’s gotten? Open your mouth.”
His tone was coaxing now, his eyes deep and intense.
Aurelia knew that if she didn’t drink this soup today, he wouldn’t let it go.
Frustrated, she grabbed the bowl and chugged it all in one go.
“That’s my girl,” Dominic said.
With a loud ‘bang,’ Aurelia slammed the bowl down hard on
the table.
The marks on Dominic’s neck were like a slap in the face. She wouldn’t look at them again.

Throughout breakfast, neither of them said another word, keeping this tense atmosphere going until the end.
After breakfast.
Aurelia was about to head out when Dominic said, “I told you— you can’t leave the house right now.”
“What if I walk out that door anyway?” Aurelia shot back.
Both of them were equally stubborn.
Dominic’s cold gaze locked on Aurelia, something vicious simmering in his eyes.
Meeting that look, Aurelia felt her chest tighten.
She’d always known-he was ruthless.
But in all their years of marriage, he’d never turned that cruelty on her.
Still… if she pushed him too far, would he?
She honestly didn’t know.
But right now? She didn’t care.

Fine. Let’s both be ruthless.
Dominic’s eyes narrowed. “You want to see him that badly?”
He meant Grant.
“I don’t know if there’s anyone I want to see,” Aurelia shot back, “but you? You definitely have someone waiting.”
“I told you. These past six months with her—it’s only been about the baby.”
“So what you’re saying is… you won’t leave me for her again?”
Every word between them was a blade drawn.
The vibe around Dominic got colder and colder.
Just as he was about to nod and say yes, his phone rang.
He glanced at the number. His brow furrowed, but he finally answered.
Actually, Eleanor had been calling him all morning, but he hadn’t picked up once.
In his mind, Eleanor’s calls were definitely all about Lauren.

Dominic answered. “Talk.”
Whatever the person on the other end said, the already ice-cold man turned even colder as his eyes landed on Aurelia.
“How is she now?”
She? Aurelia looked up at Dominic.
“Got it. I’m on my way.” He hung up.
Then he pulled up something on his phone, scrolling through page after page.
Just like yesterday in his office—the further he read, the darker his expression became.
The brand-new phone went flying across the room, shattering against the floor.
The air around him turned glacial.
Aurelia sat on the couch, casually examining her perfectly manicured nails.
Her complete indifference only enraged him more.
He ground out through clenched teeth, “You already sent all
