Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 285

He didn’t bother to whisper that part, making no attempt to hide it from Isabel.

But hearing Selena's name now stirred nothing in her.

Her feelings had settled into a deep-seated dislike, the same as it had always been.

It wasn't because of the ambiguous relationship between Selena and Adrian, nor was it because Selena’s mother had an affair with her father.

It was simply because, time and again, she found herself in trouble because of Selena.

When Selena’s medicine caused problems, she took the blame, even after her supposed death.

Selena was useful to Adrian, so after that one time Selena begged her for help, Adrian became convinced that any misfortune befalling Selena must be her fault.

She had done nothing to wrong Selena.

If anything, her only misstep was marrying Adrian.

Back then, she had been deluded, making the rash decision to force a marriage.

She didn’t feel much anger about the marriage itself anymore.

But regret? Yes, there was plenty of that.

If she had known back then that this despicable pair would cause her so much injustice and pain, she would never have gotten involved. In fact, she would have sincerely wished them a happy marriage.

“That was your excuse last time,” Isabel scoffed. “And you’re using it again.”

“Does this mean that from now on, every time Selena disappears, you’re going to come after me?”

“No, wait. Last time, you intentionally let Selena go, then came and grabbed me. I bet this is just another one of your staged dramas, isn’t it?”

She was still in her traditional wedding gown.

Adrian watched her for a moment, then leaned down, scooped her into his arms, and cupped the back of her head, pressing his lips to hers.

Isabel couldn’t see, and by the time she realized what was happening, it was too late to escape.

She could only clamp her teeth shut.

Adrian pulled her upright onto his lap, twisted the cap off the bottle, and held it to her lips.

Isabel certainly wasn't going to punish herself. She took small sips, drinking about half the bottle.

Suddenly, the truck lurched, and the remaining water spilled all over her.

She felt a cool dampness spread across her dress.

“What’s going on?” Alen demanded.

Shadow replied, “Admiral Hawke’s men are catching up.”

Alen muttered, “They’re fast.” He checked the time. “Adrian, we’re not going to make it to the Grey Zone. Maybe we should stop and make the trade for Selena?”

“Selena isn’t with Julian,” Adrian said, dabbing at Isabel's dress with a tissue. “And Julian wasn’t the one who gave her the poison.”

“You knew that? Then why did you...?” Alen was completely bewildered. “So what are we doing?”
