Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 289

"Let's not talk about that."

Old Mr. Reed retrieved a book and a parchment scroll from under his pillow.

He handed them both to Isabel.

Isabel accepted them with both hands.

The book—or rather, the notebook—was filled with old Mr. Reed's handwritten notes on traditional medicine and herb cultivation techniques.

The scroll contained a complete set of massage techniques.

"Originally," old Mr. Reed began slowly, sitting on the edge of the bed, "I entrusted you to that rascal and had you marry him to protect you. But who knew Adrian had connections with the Grey Zone?"

"I was always planning to give these to you. The only reason I made them a condition of the marriage was because I was afraid you wouldn't be willing to marry that boy."

"But I don't have many days left. I was worried I wouldn't have the chance if I waited any longer."

"Still, I have to ask, what's really going on between you and that boy from the Blackwell family?"

Isabel sighed, clearly frustrated by the topic.

"I didn't realize the marriage certificate was a fake. I should have been more careful," she said, her eyes hardening slightly. "But I'm definitely getting a divorce. After the X-1 is launched, I'll talk to him. If he doesn't agree, I'll sue."

Old Mr. Reed stroked his beard. Thinking of Adrian's personality, he asked, "On what grounds will you sue?"

Previously, Isabel had planned to use infidelity as grounds for the lawsuit, but now she knew that Selena was nothing more than a pawn to Adrian.

Adrian could counter any other reason, and she might not win a case in Westbridge.

Therefore, Selena was the key.

"You'll see for yourself when the time comes."

Old Mr. Reed didn't press further. "It's late. Get some rest."

Isabel went outside and called to Edmund, "Go take a shower. I've heated the water."

"I don't have a change of clothes, Mommy," Edmund said.

They had come straight from the Fiorhaven Principality, and he was still in his suit vest.

It was also quite high off the ground.

Isabel was about to lift Edmund up, but he managed to climb on himself.

"Where is Great-grandpa sleeping?"

Isabel pointed toward the back. "There's another small room back there."

It was her grandma's room. Everything of hers was still inside, untouched.

After her grandma passed away, old Mr. Reed had always slept in that small room.

Isabel pulled the covers over him. "Go to sleep."

She found one of her grandmother's old garments, put it on after her shower, and lay down beside Edmund.

"Mommy, I think this place is nice. I've never seen anything like it."

Isabel hugged him. "Once Mommy's work is done, we can stay in the country for a while. I'll ask your daddy, and if you can stay, I'll take you to see all sorts of places. We can also stay here and keep your great-grandfather company for a while."
