Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 347

"Mom..."

Isabel watched him, her face devoid of expression. After calling out to her, Oliver saw her cold look and hesitated, glancing up at Adrian.

Adrian patted his head. "Go on."

Oliver summoned his courage and walked over to Isabel. He wrung his small hands, speaking nervously. "Mom, thank you..."

Isabel hadn't expected him to say that. She had assumed he was there to pester her again.

But she didn't respond.

Oliver continued, "I did something wrong before. Dad said it's okay if you don't forgive me. He said that even with people you're close to, if they do something wrong, you don't have to forgive them."

Isabel turned to Adrian. "What are you trying to accomplish by having a child say these things?"

"I'm just teaching him a few things. He's growing up," Adrian replied. "It's my responsibility as a father. Now that he's lost his mother, I can't fail him as a father."

Isabel scoffed. "Good, you're here. Let me inform you of something. I've hired a lawyer to file for pre-litigation mediation so we can bypass the mandatory waiting period. Our assets are not complicated to divide, and custody of the child has already been settled. The court can grant the divorce directly."

Adrian said nothing. He turned to Oliver. "Is there anything else you want to say?"

Oliver spoke again. "Mom, I'm not asking you to forgive me, but my mistake wasn't so serious that there's no chance to make up for it. So, Mom, I want to come with you, to..."

His eyes swept over to Julian. "Is it because you want to be happy with your new husband and child that you're so cold to us?"

Isabel was rendered speechless. He always had his own warped logic, never considering his own faults and always shifting the blame onto others.

But getting Adrian to admit he was wrong was an impossible fantasy. For a man like him, even when he was wrong, he was right. Countless people would praise him, and no one would dare say otherwise.

"I'll take you back." Not wanting to talk to Adrian any longer, Isabel grabbed the collar of Oliver's hospital gown and started walking him out.

As they walked, she said, "Since you know I won't forgive you, stay out of my sight from now on. After your father and I get divorced, you'll be with him. You'll have nothing to do with me."

"We'll have nothing to do with each other after the divorce?" Oliver asked, confused. "But my friend at preschool said that after his parents got divorced, he lived with his mom, but his dad would still visit and take him out on weekends. Mom, Dad said I'm your biological son. You have a responsibility to me. That responsibility doesn't just disappear because you get a divorce or say you don't want me."
