"You know, I could sue you for that."
Perfect.
Isabel pushed him back into his hospital room without a word. She didn't even step inside, just turned to leave.
As she turned, she ran right into a man's chest.
She knew the scent immediately.
She tried to step back, but he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into his arms.
"Don't even think about it, Isabel. Even with pre-litigation mediation, as long as the child says he wants to be with you and I don't agree, the divorce can't proceed."
Isabel stomped hard on his foot, grinding her heel into it.
She wanted to crush his foot, to tear him apart.
"You're a real bastard, Adrian."
Adrian's expression shifted. No one had ever used that word to describe him.
Seeing his face change gave Isabel a surge of satisfaction. She was about to curse him again, but the moment she opened her mouth, his lips were on hers. "Mmph!"
Before she could react, he kissed her deeply and forcefully.
No matter how much she hit or stomped on him, it was useless.
Oliver, who had been about to say something else to try and make Isabel stay, saw the scene, quickly covered his face, and went back inside the room.
Smack.
The moment he let her go, Isabel slapped him across the face. She scrubbed at her lips with the back of her hand, making the already swollen flesh even redder and fuller.
Adrian's eyes darkened.
Sensing danger, Isabel's eyes widened. "Are you an animal?"
His hand tightened on her waist. "With you, it's a normal reaction."
Isabel laughed coldly. "Need I remind you that for six years of our marriage, I could be standing naked in front of you and you wouldn't react?"
Isabel shoved at Adrian. "If you want to be gawked at like an animal in a zoo, fine, but I don't."
His face darkening, Adrian released her. Isabel immediately returned to Julian's room, paying no mind to what he had been about to say.

"Looks like things didn't go well." Catherine looked at his grim expression and smiled. "I can help, you know."
"Not necessary." Adrian straightened his suit. "Handle your own affairs."
Catherine followed him into the hospital room. She saw Oliver playing by himself on the bed. While she didn't understand the medical data, his condition seemed stable.
Isabel really was capable.
"It's not like I'm getting a divorce," Catherine said, sitting down on the sofa. "Seriously, I can help you. After all, I have no desire to see Kate Caldwell and her son live happily ever after."
Adrian's phone rang, and he answered it.
"Mr. Blackwell, hello. This is Ms. Hayes's legal counsel. I'm calling to inform you of a pre-litigation mediation for your divorce proceedings, scheduled for ten o'clock tomorrow morning at the courthouse."
